Fits Vax cordless vacuums including handheld and upright models using BH15030 or BH25040 original batteries.
20V 3000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full motor torque on carpet without voltage sag through the charge cycle.
Connector slides straight onto the dock charge port with a locking tab that seats flush against the motor housing.
We bench tested the BMS under sustained suction load — cutoff held steady at 20V with no premature shutdown on restricted airflow.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock permanently after reaching full charge — continuous trickle charging degrades capacity significantly faster than removal after full charge completion.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vax BH15030 / BH25040 — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 20V 3000mAh (60Wh) Li-ion battery that replaces Vax OEM parts BH15030 and BH25040. It fits Vax cordless vacuum cleaners that run on these packs. Voltage and cell count match the original spec exactly.

  • BH15030 and BH25040 compatibility: Both OEM part numbers share the same 20V cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The vacuum's power management board treats this replacement pack the same as the factory unit — no resets or workarounds needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a Vax cordless vacuum test rig. The BMS held cell balancing across all discharge phases and the protection circuit tripped correctly at undervoltage before cells could be damaged.
  • Dock charging discipline on Vax cordless vacuums: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock continuously. Vax cordless models on permanent dock charge develop capacity fade faster than units charged only when the pack is depleted. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.

Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor is working harder than rated — usually because the filter is partially blocked. A restricted filter forces the motor to draw more current, which pulls cell voltage down faster than normal. The BMS reads the voltage drop and reduces output to protect the cells, cutting available suction even while the indicator still shows charge. Clean or replace the filter first, then test suction again — a clear filter brings motor draw back to rated current and the full voltage headroom returns.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — by a blockage, a clogged filter, or heavy carpet pile — the motor draws a sustained current spike above the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts power to protect the cells, and after a short thermal or timer reset window, power restores. Clear any blockage, check the filter is clean, and verify the brush roll is free of hair wrap. If trips still occur on open flooring with a clean filter, check pack voltage resting at 20V before the next run.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Vax cordless vacuum charges fine but the suction drops off way sooner than it used to — is the new battery the problem?

A partially blocked filter is the most common cause. When airflow is restricted, the motor draws more current than rated, which drags cell voltage down early and the BMS scales back output — even though the pack still has charge left. Clean or replace the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap before suspecting the battery. If suction holds longer after clearing the filter, the pack is fine; measure resting voltage after a full charge and confirm it sits at 20V.

The vacuum motor keeps cutting out for a few seconds and then comes back on its own during a clean — what's causing this?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip. Sustained high-current draw — from a blockage, a clogged filter, or heavy pile carpet — pushes the pack above its current limit and the BMS shuts output briefly to protect the cells. Clear any blockage, clean the filter, and make sure the brush roll spins freely. If trips continue on hard flooring with a clean filter, check that the pack rests at 20V after a full charge cycle before ruling out a cell issue.

I've had the replacement battery a few months and it's already holding less charge than when it arrived — what went wrong?

Continuous dock charging is the most likely cause. Vax cordless vacuums left on the charging dock permanently expose the cells to a low-level trickle charge that accelerates capacity fade over weeks. The fix going forward is straightforward: charge the pack fully, then remove the vacuum from the dock and store it off charge. Capacity already lost to trickle charge damage won't recover, but halting the behaviour stops further fade from this point.
