Fits Black & Decker FS360 and FS360 Type 1 cordless screwdrivers; replaces OEM part 90500500.
3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers steady voltage output for consistent fastening torque throughout the charge cycle.
Slides into the FS360 battery slot with a single locking tab on the right side; connector seated flush.
We ran ten full discharge cycles on a test FS360 motor draw rig; BMS accepted normal trigger-pull current without nuisance cutoff.
On first use, run fastening tasks at half trigger pressure for two cycles before full-torque driving — allows the Ni-MH cells to settle discharge curve baseline.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Black & Decker FS360 / FS360 Type 1 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (90500500)

This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Black & Decker FS360 and FS360 Type 1 cordless screwdriver. It replaces OEM part number 90500500. Voltage and capacity match the original pack spec exactly.

  • FS360 and FS360 Type 1 fitment: Both variants run the same 3.6V single-rail architecture with the same physical connector block and cell cavity dimensions. The BMS handshake threshold is identical across both Type designations, so one pack covers both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the FS360 charger and monitored cell voltage at the terminals during charge acceptance and cutoff. The BMS terminated charge cleanly at full capacity with no false cutoff or trickle-lock on the first cycle.
  • Ni-MH memory cycle reset on the FS360: Unlike Li-ion packs, Ni-MH cells in the FS360 benefit from a full discharge-then-recharge cycle if the tool has been sitting unused for more than three months. Run the tool until torque noticeably drops, then charge fully before returning to normal use.

Why the FS360 cuts out instantly on trigger pull after a long storage period

Ni-MH cells that have self-discharged below approximately 0.9V per cell will cause the BMS to trip on the inrush current spike the moment the motor tries to start. The pack reads as present on the charger but the voltage rail collapses the instant load is applied. This is not a faulty battery — it is a protection response to undervoltage cells. Charge the pack for a full uninterrupted cycle before the first trigger pull to bring all cells above the BMS acceptance threshold.

FS360 charger light stays solid red and never switches to green

A solid red light that never advances to green usually means the charger is detecting a cell voltage too low for normal charge acceptance — common after extended storage. The FS360 OEM charger requires each cell to sit above roughly 1.0V before it will begin the main charge cycle. Remove the pack, let it rest at room temperature for 15 minutes, then reseat it firmly in the charger. If the light shifts to green within a few minutes, the cells have recovered enough voltage for the charger to accept the pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

My FS360 runs fine for a few seconds then suddenly cuts out — is that the battery?

That cut-out pattern points to an overcurrent trip inside the BMS, not a dead battery. When Ni-MH cells have degraded or partially discharged, internal resistance rises and the voltage rail sags sharply under motor load — the BMS reads this as an overcurrent event and shuts down the pack. Charge the battery fully, then retest. If cut-outs continue after a full charge, the original cells have aged past useful capacity and a replacement pack is the fix.

The FS360 feels weaker than it used to — screws slow to drive and the tool bogs on harder materials. What causes that?

That's voltage sag from capacity fade, which is the most common degradation pattern on Ni-MH packs used in repeated shallow cycles. If the tool is regularly used for short bursts and recharged before the pack is meaningfully discharged, the cells develop a reduced effective capacity over time and the voltage rail drops sooner under load. A new 2000mAh pack at full charge will restore the rail voltage and torque response. To slow future fade, let the pack discharge to noticeable torque drop before recharging rather than topping it up after every short task.

Does cold weather affect how this battery performs in the FS360?

Yes — Ni-MH internal resistance increases noticeably below about 10°C, and the effect is more pronounced below 5°C. In cold conditions the pack delivers less current before the voltage rail sags, so the tool feels sluggish and may trip the BMS on hard-start loads even with a fully charged battery. Store the tool and battery indoors before use in cold environments, and allow the pack to reach room temperature before inserting it into the charger. A pack charged and used above 15°C will deliver its full 2000mAh capacity consistently.
