Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (JM1 / BAT-30615-006)
This 3.7V, 1450mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the JM1 / BAT-30615-006 cell in the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 and 9930 smartphones. It also fits the Pluto and Montana variants that share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout. Voltage and capacity match the original specification exactly.
- Bold Touch 9900 / 9930 platform fit: The 9900 and 9930 share a common battery bay, connector layout, and BMS handshake protocol. Both models accept the JM1 cell format — same 65.00 × 43.50 × 4.39mm footprint, same three-pin connector, same charge termination voltage at 4.2V.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a 9900 unit through charge and discharge. The BMS accepted the cell without error, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge to shutdown and then charge to 100% before using the device heavily. The Bold 9900's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — skipping this step causes the percentage readout to lag or jump erratically for several days.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Bold Touch 9900
This happens because the fuel gauge IC still references the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. When the new cell's voltage drops under modem or display load, the gauge miscalculates remaining capacity and the phone hits a voltage floor it wasn't expecting. The result is an abrupt shutdown despite the percentage showing headroom. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete charge lets the coulomb counter re-anchor to the new cell's actual curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at false percentages stop.
Device will not power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If this battery has been sitting for months, the cell voltage may have dropped below 3.0V — the threshold where the Bold 9900's BMS locks out to prevent damage. The phone will show nothing when you press power. Connect it to a wall charger, not a PC USB port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the BMS lockout voltage, at which point normal charging resumes and the device will power on.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Bold 9900 show a different battery percentage every time I restart it after fitting this new cell?
The fuel gauge IC on the 9900 uses a stored discharge curve from your old cell to estimate remaining charge. When a new cell goes in, that curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour, so the reported percentage shifts each time the coulomb counter reinitialises on reboot. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle gives the fuel gauge enough data to recalibrate against the new cell, and the percentage readout stabilises.
The Bold 9900 feels noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is something wrong?
A new high-impedance cell generates more heat during the initial charge cycles than a broken-in cell does. The charge IC on the 9900 pushes current into a cell with higher internal resistance, and that resistance converts some energy to heat. It is normal and reduces after three to five full charge cycles as the cell's internal resistance settles. If the device is too hot to hold comfortably or charge stops before 100%, check that the battery contacts on both the cell and the bay are clean and seated flat.
My Bold 9930 charged fine yesterday but now the charge icon appears briefly and then disappears — what causes that?
This is usually a contact seating issue, not a cell fault. The JM1 connector on the 9930 is friction-fit, and if the battery is not pressed fully into the bay the middle data pin loses contact intermittently. Power the phone off, remove the battery, check that all three pins on the cell are clean and unbent, reseat the battery with firm pressure until the back cover clicks flat, then reconnect the charger. If the charge icon still drops in and out, clean the bay contacts with a dry cotton swab to remove any oxidation before trying again.
