Fits T-Mobile myTouch, myTouch Q, and myTouch Q U8730 models; replaces HB5N1 and HB5N1H batteries.
3.7V lithium-ion cell rated 1500mAh delivers stable voltage across talk, standby, and moderate data use.
Slides into the rear battery compartment with flat connector contact; no locking tab—seats flush when seated fully.
We bench-tested this cell in a myTouch Q; the BMS accepted voltage immediately with no initial cutoff errors.
On first use after installation, run one full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

T-Mobile myTouch Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HB5N1)

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion battery for the T-Mobile myTouch and myTouch Q lineup, including the myTouch Q U8730 and myTouch U8680. It replaces the OEM HB5N1 and HB5N1H cells. Fit the physical footprint at 51.30 × 50.80 × 5.60mm — confirm before ordering if your variant isn't listed.

  • myTouch and myTouch Q compatibility: The U8680 and U8730 share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Both accept the HB5N1 cell without modification to the contact plate or housing.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the myTouch platform. The BMS engaged charge termination correctly at 4.2V and held low-voltage cutoff at the expected floor — no erratic shutdowns observed during the test sequence.
  • First-cycle fuel gauge reset: After installing this battery, run one complete discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. This lets the phone's fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before it starts reporting state-of-charge to the OS.

Why the myTouch reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC in the myTouch stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell chemistry and impedance. The OS reads the IC's estimate, not the cell voltage directly, so percentages drift — sometimes reading 40% when the phone is near cutoff. One full discharge-charge cycle forces the IC to recalibrate its coulomb counter against the new cell and corrects the reporting.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under modem or screen load — a voltage cliff the fuel gauge IC didn't predict because it's still calibrated to the old cell. The phone's protection circuit cuts power before the OS can log a low-battery event, so the shutdown appears instant. It's most common in the first few cycles on a replacement cell. Run two full discharge-to-shutdown cycles and the IC's learned curve will shift to match the new cell's voltage profile, pushing the cutoff point lower.

Frequently Asked Questions

My myTouch won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?

When a Li-ion cell discharges below roughly 2.5V in storage, the BMS trips a lockout to prevent damage and the phone won't respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release the lockout and allow normal boot.

The battery percentage on my myTouch jumps around randomly — it'll show 60%, drop to 35%, then jump back up without charging.

The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve and its coulomb counter estimates are unreliable until it completes at least one full reference cycle. Let the phone discharge fully until it shuts itself off, then charge it straight to 100% without interrupting. After that single full cycle, the IC has a real endpoint to anchor its curve and the percentage readings stabilise.

My myTouch gets noticeably warm near the battery while charging the new cell — should I stop charging it?

Some warmth on the first few charge cycles is normal. A fresh cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, and the charge IC pushes current against that resistance, generating heat. If the phone feels hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, disconnect and let it cool, then resume. By the third or fourth full charge cycle, cell impedance drops and the warmth reduces — if it doesn't, check that the back cover is seated flush and not trapping heat against the battery.
