The cell itself isn't failing — the draw profile is simply higher than intermittent use. If warmth becomes excessive, pause recording for a few minutes to let the cell recover, then resume.

The SCR-250 powers on but the battery percentage jumps from 60% down to 10% in minutes without warning — what's causing it?

The camcorder's battery indicator reads voltage samples and maps them to percentage thresholds calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new replacement cell has a slightly different resting voltage profile, so the camera misreads those thresholds and produces erratic jumps. This isn't cell failure — it's a calibration mismatch.
