Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Blaupunkt SCR-250 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 4.8V, 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Blaupunkt SCR-250 camera. It fits directly into the camera body and restores power for photography and video recording. Capacity figures are drawn from the product specification — 1200mAh at 5.76Wh.
- SCR-250 platform fit: The SCR-250 uses a 4.8V Ni-MH cell in a specific form factor — 73.60 x 46.06 x 19.29mm. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical envelope so the battery seats correctly in the compartment and closes the contacts at the right geometry.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench, monitoring the BMS response at full charge termination. The cell accepts charge cleanly and the voltage holds steady across the discharge curve without premature cutoff triggering.
- First-cycle charge in the camera body: Some camera BMS systems map battery-remaining percentage against a known discharge curve. On first install, run one full charge cycle from inside the camera body or the OEM charger before shooting — this allows the camera's indicator to calibrate correctly to the new cell's voltage profile.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the SCR-250 display
The SCR-250 maps its battery indicator to voltage thresholds from its original cell's discharge curve. A new Ni-MH cell discharges on a flatter voltage plateau than an aged cell, so the camera's percentage readout can jump — showing 80%, then dropping to 40% within a few frames. This is a calibration mismatch, not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle in the camera and the indicator will settle as the BMS learns the new cell's curve.
Flash not fully recycling between shots after installing a new cell
The flash capacitor draws a sharp burst of current to recharge between shots. On a Ni-MH cell that has not completed a conditioning cycle, internal resistance can be slightly elevated, causing a brief voltage sag that slows capacitor recharge. You will notice longer intervals between the ready-to-shoot indicator lighting up. Complete two full charge-discharge cycles — internal resistance drops measurably after the first two cycles, and flash recycle speed returns to normal. Confirm the cell is reaching at least 5.4V at full charge before shooting in flash mode.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SCR-250 shows a dead battery icon immediately after installing a fully charged replacement — why?
The camera's BMS performs a voltage check on first contact with a new cell. If the cell hasn't completed a charge cycle inside the camera body or the OEM charger, the resting voltage can sit just below the camera's acceptance threshold, triggering a false dead-battery read. Place the cell in the camera or charger and run one full charge cycle without interrupting it. After that cycle completes, the camera should read the cell correctly on next power-on.
Shot count is much lower than expected even though the battery reads full — what's happening?
The SCR-250's rated shot count assumes moderate flash use and minimal video recording. Continuous autofocus, sustained video, and frequent flash firing each draw current beyond the baseline spec, and Ni-MH cells are more sensitive to high-draw spikes than Li-ion equivalents. The cell itself is not faulty — actual shot count under mixed shooting conditions will always fall below a flash-only or LCD-off test figure. Reduce flash frequency or switch off continuous AF during video to bring draw back in line with the cell's 1200mAh capacity.
The SCR-250 body gets noticeably warm during video recording with the new battery — is that normal?
Sustained video on the SCR-250 pulls current from the sensor, image processor, and any stabilisation simultaneously — this is a higher combined draw than still photography. The camera body warming under that load is normal and is not caused by the replacement cell. The cell itself will also warm slightly under sustained discharge, which is characteristic of Ni-MH chemistry under continuous current. If the body becomes too hot to hold comfortably, pause recording for 60 seconds and check that the battery compartment contacts are clean and making firm contact.
