This is a 3.85V, 5000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the BLU Studio Energy (D810u) and Studio Energy 2 (S0090UU). It fits directly into BLU's large-capacity budget smartphone line where the original cell has degraded or lost charge retention. Capacity matches the factory spec at 5000mAh (19.25Wh).

  • Studio Energy platform fit: The D810u and S0090UU share the same battery bay dimensions and 3.85V supply rail. Both models use the same connector orientation and BMS handshake protocol, which is why this single cell covers the full Studio Energy lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Studio Energy platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC ramped current correctly from trickle to full charge without thermal cutoff events.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes into an uncalibrated state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff problem. Under modem activity or full-brightness screen load, the cell voltage drops sharply below the threshold the fuel gauge IC expects at that state of charge. The phone cuts out before the percentage hits zero. Run one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this gives the coulomb counter enough data to map the new cell's actual voltage curve. After that cycle, early shutoffs typically stop.

Phone reports wrong battery percentage after cell swap

The fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve calibrated to the old cell. A new cell with a different internal impedance will read as a different state of charge at the same voltage, causing the percentage to jump or stall. The fix is one full uninterrupted cycle — discharge until shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that, the coulomb counter resets its reference and percentage tracking stabilises.

My BLU Studio Energy 2 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?

It is likely in BMS lockout. When a Li-Polymer cell drops below roughly 2.5V during storage, the BMS disconnects the cell to prevent damage and will not respond to a normal power button press. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the lockout threshold, at which point the phone will boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in my Studio Energy after fitting this battery — what happened?

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on the new cell sometimes rejects the USB handshake for the fast charge protocol until it completes one standard charge. Plug into a standard 5V charger for the first full charge and let it reach 100% without switching cables. On the second charge cycle, reconnect your fast charger — the BMS will have completed its initialisation and should accept the higher current negotiation.

The battery percentage on my BLU Studio Energy jumps around erratically — drops 10% in minutes then sits still for an hour. What causes that?

The fuel gauge IC is still recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve. The old calibration data does not match the voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement cell, so the percentage reading becomes unreliable. Drain the phone completely until it shuts off, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session. That gives the coulomb counter a full reference cycle and the erratic jumping will stop.
