Fits BLU Studio G HD and S170 models replacing OEM part C766004220L.
3.7V 1600mAh cell delivers standard talk and standby time on this budget Android device.
Connector slides vertically into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the side.
We bench tested this cell on a Studio G HD unit — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no cutoff delays or voltage sag under modem load.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against this cell's discharge curve before high-current charging runs.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BLU Studio G HD / S170 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (C766004220L)

This 3.7V 1600mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original C766004220L battery in the BLU Studio G HD and S170. It fits the removable battery bay directly and restores standard charging and power behaviour. Capacity is 1600mAh — 5.92Wh — matching the factory specification.

  • Studio G HD and S170 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and charge IC handshake. One cell covers both devices — no adapter or modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Studio G HD platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the charge IC, held cutoff voltage at the expected threshold, and showed no false low-battery trips under screen and modem load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting a new cell, disable fast charging if available and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean discharge curve from the new cell before it begins tracking coulombs accurately.

Why the Studio G HD reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on the Studio G HD learns cell behaviour over time and stores a discharge curve from the old battery. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement. The gauge reads voltage, compares it against the old curve, and outputs a percentage that can be 10–20% off. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to rewrite its reference curve against the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — modem transmit bursts and screen backlighting can pull the cell below the BMS protection threshold even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. The BMS trips a hard cutoff to protect the cell, and the phone shuts off. It is not a faulty battery — it is the fuel gauge IC still working from a stale calibration curve. After one full recalibration cycle, the gauge tracks the real voltage cliff correctly and shutdown moves back to the expected 5–10% range.

Frequently Asked Questions

The phone turned off at around 25% and now won't turn back on — is the battery dead?

The BMS cut power when cell voltage dropped below its protection floor under modem or screen load, even though the gauge still showed charge. Plug the phone into a charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on — the BMS needs a trickle current to exit lockout before the main charge cycle can start. If the charge LED comes on, the cell is recovering normally. Once it reaches 3.7V under charge, the phone will power on as expected.

My phone charges to 100% then immediately drops to 85% when I unplug it — what's happening?

The coulomb counter in the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's internal resistance and capacity curve. When the charger disconnects, the gauge reads the open-circuit voltage of the new cell and maps it against the old curve, which shifts the displayed percentage down. Run one full uninterrupted discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without unplugging — that single cycle gives the IC enough data to rewrite its reference model against the new cell.

The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is that normal?

A new high-impedance cell generates more heat during the first few charge cycles as the charge IC negotiates current limits before the cell's internal resistance settles. Surface warmth is expected and typically reduces after two or three full cycles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or if charging stops early, remove the phone from any case to improve airflow and avoid charging on soft surfaces. Check that charge current has dropped to maintenance mode — indicated by the charge LED changing state — before setting it down.
