This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original battery in the BLU Studio Selfie and S070Q smartphones. It fits the existing battery bay without modification and connects via the stock flex connector. Capacity is rated at 5.55Wh — matching the factory cell spec.

Why the Studio Selfie reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on the S070Q uses a coulomb counter referenced against the original cell's internal resistance and discharge curve. When a new cell goes in, that reference is stale. The IC can read 40% while the actual cell voltage is already near the low-voltage cutoff. This mismatch causes sudden shutdowns at percentages that look safe. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by a complete charge resets the coulomb counter baseline and aligns reported percentage with real cell state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the modem or display draws a short current spike and the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. A fresh Li-ion cell with an uncalibrated fuel gauge IC is especially prone to this in the first few cycles. The fix is not a hardware fault — run the phone through two full discharge and charge cycles without interruption. After calibration, the gauge tracks real voltage more accurately and the shutdowns stop.

The BLU Studio Selfie won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?

Most likely the cell discharged below 2.5V in storage and the BMS locked out to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will allow normal charging to resume. If the battery icon appears at any point, the cell is recovering; continue charging to at least 3.6V before booting the phone.

The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is that normal with a new cell?

A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC pushes a little more voltage to drive current in — that converts to heat. It is more pronounced in the first two to three charge cycles and fades as the cell conditions. If the back stays warm throughout a full charge and does not cool down after charging ends, check that no third-party charger is exceeding 5V input, as the Studio Selfie charge IC does not regulate against overvoltage on the input rail.

Battery percentage is jumping around — shows 60%, then drops to 35%, then jumps back up without the phone being used much — what is causing this?

The coulomb counter in the BLU fuel gauge IC is still referencing the old cell's discharge curve after the swap. It loses track of state-of-charge when the new cell's voltage response does not match the stored model. Run the phone down to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% in a single uninterrupted session. That single full cycle gives the IC enough data to rebuild its internal model against the new cell, and erratic jumps typically stop after that recalibration pass.
