Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bosch BHN16L / Move 16V — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (801BPV144-01)
This 14.4V 2500mAh (36Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Bosch BHN16L, BHN16L/04, and Move 16V cordless handheld vacuums. It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector, and the BMS communicates with the vacuum's motor controller the same way the factory pack does. Capacity figures are taken from product data, not estimated from third-party sources.
- BHN16L and Move 16V platform fit: These models share the same 14.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One replacement pack covers all three variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the BHN16L motor controller. The BMS held cutoff thresholds within spec and did not trigger false overcurrent trips under normal suction load.
- Dock charging habit on cordless vacuums: Do not leave this vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous dock contact delivers a low-level trickle charge that accelerates capacity fade on Li-ion cells. Charge to full, then remove from the dock until the next use.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The BHN16L motor controller reads voltage from the battery pack to set fan speed. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor draws more current than rated to maintain airflow, which pulls cell voltage down faster than the indicator circuit expects. The indicator shows mid-charge while actual pack voltage has already sagged below the motor's efficient operating range. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery was not the cause. If the pack voltage at rest reads below 12.8V after a full charge, the cells have degraded and replacement is the next step.
Motor cuts out mid-use then restarts after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a power failure. The protection circuit cuts output when current draw spikes above the trip threshold — most often caused by a blocked filter or nozzle forcing the motor to work against restricted airflow. The BMS resets automatically once current normalises, which is why the vacuum restarts on its own. Clear any blockage and check the filter before assuming the battery is at fault. If the cutout persists on an unobstructed vacuum, check that pack voltage under load does not drop below 10.8V, which would indicate cell degradation rather than a BMS trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Bosch BHN16L loses suction well before the battery light shows low — is that the battery or the filter?
Most of the time it is the filter. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which pulls cell voltage down faster than the indicator circuit expects — the light still shows mid-charge while actual output voltage has already sagged. Clean or replace the filter and test again. If suction remains weak after that, charge the pack fully and check resting voltage: anything below 12.8V after a full charge points to cell degradation, not a blockage.
The vacuum cuts out for a few seconds then comes back on by itself — what is happening?
The BMS is tripping on an overcurrent spike and then self-resetting. This almost always happens when the nozzle or filter is restricting airflow and forcing the motor to pull more amps than the protection circuit allows. Clear any blockage, clean the filter, and run the vacuum again. If the cutout continues on a fully unobstructed machine, check that the pack voltage under load does not drop below 10.8V — sustained sag below that level means the cells can no longer handle the motor's start-up draw.
The replacement battery is not charging on the Bosch dock — the charger just blinks and stops. What should I do?
The BHN16L charger checks for a BMS handshake before it begins charging. If the replacement pack has been fully depleted — resting below roughly 5V — the BMS may not respond and the charger will abort. Connect the pack to the charger and leave it for 15 minutes without interruption; some chargers send a low-current recovery pulse before initiating the main charge cycle. If the charger still blinks and stops, check that the battery contacts on both the pack and the dock are clean and making firm contact — oxidised pins are a common cause of failed handshakes on this platform.
