Fits Bosch BHN20L cordless handheld vacuum, replaces OEM part 801BPV180-01.
18V 2500mAh Li-ion pack delivers rated capacity to the suction motor without voltage sag under normal floor and carpet loads.
Slide connector seats flush into the battery slot with a quarter-turn locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
Bench testing showed clean BMS handshake on first charge cycle with no fault codes; cell balancing completed within normal profile.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously—dock trickle charge degrades capacity faster than charge-and-remove cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bosch BHN20L / Move 20V Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (801BPV180-01)

This is an 18V Li-ion battery rated at 2500mAh (45Wh), replacing OEM part 801BPV180-01. It fits the Bosch BHN20L, BHN20L/04, and Move 20V cordless handheld vacuums. Same voltage, same connector orientation, same BMS communication protocol as the original cell.

  • BHN20L and Move 20V platform: These models share the same 18V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake requirements. Swapping between them uses the same cell — Bosch standardised the interface across this vacuum line to simplify servicing.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery on a BHN20L under sustained suction load and monitored BMS response. Voltage held steady across the discharge curve and the protection circuit triggered correctly at low-cell threshold — no premature cutoff.
  • Dock charging habit on cordless vacuums: Do not leave the BHN20L sitting on the charging dock after the battery reaches full. Continuous dock contact on this platform delivers a low-level trickle that accelerates capacity fade. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator hits low

The BHN20L motor draws more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling amps beyond its rated draw. The BMS reads this elevated current as a potential fault and reduces output voltage to protect the cell. The result is weaker suction even though the battery still shows charge. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction restores, the battery was never the issue.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is sustained against a blockage or dense carpet pile, current spikes briefly above the protection threshold. The BMS shuts the output, waits for the cell temperature and load reading to normalise, then re-enables. It is a repeating cycle until the restriction is cleared. Remove any blockage from the nozzle and inlet path, then resume — the BMS will reset and hold output voltage without tripping.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BHN20L loses suction noticeably before the battery light even starts flashing — is the new battery faulty?

Not necessarily. A restricted filter forces the motor to draw above rated current, which causes the BMS to drop output voltage early — the battery still holds charge, but the motor is starved. Check and clean the filter first. If suction restores, the battery is working correctly. A faulty cell would cause a hard cutoff, not a gradual suction drop.

The vacuum cuts out for a few seconds, then restarts on its own — what triggers that?

That is the BMS tripping on a momentary overcurrent spike, not a cell failure. It happens when the motor sustains high draw against a blockage or dense carpet — current peaks above the protection threshold, the BMS opens the circuit briefly, then resets once the reading normalises. Clear any blockage from the nozzle and inlet path, then run the vacuum again. The restart cycle stops once airflow is no longer restricted.

The replacement battery charges fine but feels like it runs out faster than the original did when it was new — what degrades capacity this quickly?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause on the BHN20L platform. Leaving the vacuum on the dock after reaching full charge exposes the cell to sustained low-level current, which degrades capacity faster than normal use cycles. Remove the battery or the vacuum from the dock as soon as the charge indicator shows full. Going forward, charge only when the battery is depleted and disconnect immediately at 100%.
