Fits Bosch CTX-TAM514, CT-COM157, CT-COM214, CT-COM316 cordless handsets; replaces original Ni-MH battery packs.
3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH delivers consistent voltage through calls and standby without sag on transmit.
Connector solders directly to handset PCB; no locking tab; verify polarity before assembly.
Bench tested on CTX-TAM514 base unit — BMS accepted cell on first insertion, voltage held steady under RF load.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bosch CTX-TAM514 / CT-COM Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original pack in the Bosch CTX-TAM514 and CT-COM cordless phone range. It fits the handset directly and restores full wireless operation to the telephone system. Capacity figure is 1200mAh (4.32Wh) as rated by the manufacturer.

  • CTX-TAM514, CT-COM157, CT-COM214, CT-COM316 and more: These handsets share a 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH pack with the same physical footprint — 42.40 × 49.90 × 14.40mm — and the same terminal layout, so one battery covers the full CT-COM lineup alongside the TAM514.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset platform. The cell voltage held steady through the talk-power draw, and the protection circuit behaved correctly at both end-of-charge and low-voltage cutoff.
  • First-charge conditioning on Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cordless batteries ship partially discharged, and a slow initial charge is what gets the pack to rated capacity — skipping it means the first few cycles will read short.

Base station showing no charge or error light on a new Ni-MH pack

Bosch DECT bases use a delta-V detection method to confirm a charge is in progress. A new Ni-MH battery that has sat in storage can drop below 3.0V, which some base units treat as a fault rather than a flat pack. The base then refuses to start the charge cycle and lights the error indicator instead. Seat the handset, remove it after 30 seconds, and re-seat it — this resets the handshake. If the error persists, a short 15-minute trickle from a standalone Ni-MH charger at the correct cell count brings the voltage back above the base acceptance threshold, typically 3.3V.

Range drops noticeably after fitting a replacement battery

DECT transmit power is constant by spec, but the RF output depends on the handset pulling stable voltage during the burst transmissions. When a fresh Ni-MH pack hasn't completed its first few conditioning cycles, internal resistance is higher than rated, and voltage sags under the RF load. This sag is what the user experiences as reduced range — the signal weakens mid-burst. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles and internal resistance drops to spec. After that, range returns to the original baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Bosch cordless phone talk time is much shorter than expected after fitting the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the battery. Ni-MH cells need three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity — this is normal chemistry behaviour, not a fault. Each cycle the pack holds a little more charge than the last. Run the handset down to low-battery warning, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — by cycle four or five, talk time will be at or close to the 1200mAh rated figure.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some Bosch DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory backed by the battery. When power drops to zero during a swap, that data clears and the handset appears as unregistered to the base. This is not a fault with the replacement battery. Re-register the handset using the base menu — on most CT-COM models, hold the paging button on the base for five seconds, then follow the handset registration prompt.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what causes that?

This points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging pins, not a battery fault. If the handset sits even slightly off-centre, the pins don't connect and the base never charges — the standby draw then runs the pack flat by morning. Wipe the charging contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, re-seat the handset firmly, and check that the charging indicator light activates within 10 seconds of placing it down.
