Fits Bosch FUG10A and FuG13a two-way radios, replaces OEM part B5870.
7.2V, 1000mAh Ni-MH pack delivers steady voltage under sustained RF transmission without sag.
Connector slides straight in with locking tab engagement on the radio's battery slot.
We bench-tested this cell on a FUG10A transceiver at full PTT cycles—BMS accepted charge without fault codes.
On first insertion, if the charger dock shows a fault LED, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly—the Bosch platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new cell before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bosch FUG10A / FuG13a — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (B5870)

This is a 7.2V, 1000mAh Ni-MH battery for the Bosch FUG10A and FuG13a portable two-way radios. It replaces OEM part numbers B5870, B5870GRX, and 8697322951. Voltage and capacity match the original pack exactly.

  • FUG10A and FuG13a platform fit: Both radios share the same 7.2V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit loads on the FUG10A bench rig. The BMS held stable under sustained PTT draw and did not trigger overcurrent cutoff during normal push-to-talk bursts.
  • First insertion into the FUG10A dock: If the charger shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.

Why the FUG10A cuts out mid-transmission on a freshly inserted battery

Ni-MH cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 1.1–1.2V per cell, which puts a six-cell 7.2V pack near 6.6–7.2V before any charge cycle. Under transmit load, that lower starting voltage can dip enough to trip the radio's low-voltage cutoff momentarily. This is not a faulty pack. Run the battery through one full charge cycle before first use and the cutoff threshold clears on subsequent transmissions.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting the B5870

The FUG10A reads battery level using fixed voltage thresholds, not a fuel-gauge chip. A new Ni-MH pack at storage voltage sits below the top threshold, so the radio displays one bar short of full even though the cell capacity is intact. Charge the pack fully — the dock green LED confirms completion — and the bar indicator will read correctly at the next power-on. If it still reads low after a full charge, check dock contact continuity first; a dirty contact strip causes incomplete charge termination and leaves the pack at roughly 7.0V instead of the expected 7.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My FUG10A cuts out every time I press PTT on the new B5870 — is the pack dead already?

It is not dead. Ni-MH cells arrive at storage voltage, and under transmit current draw that low starting voltage can dip far enough to trip the radio's low-voltage cutoff. Put the pack through one complete charge cycle in the dock first — wait for the green LED — then retry PTT. Cutout on a fully charged pack points to a dirty contact strip causing a voltage drop at the terminal, not a failed cell.

The charger dock blinks a fault LED and never switches to charging after I fit the new battery — what is happening?

The dock's acceptance circuit checks pack voltage before it opens the charge path. A Ni-MH pack sitting at storage voltage can fall below the dock's minimum acceptance threshold, causing the fault blink. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, then reseat with firm pressure to complete the BMS handshake. If the fault LED persists after reseating, connect the pack to a standalone Ni-MH charger set to 7.2V to bring the cell voltage above the dock's acceptance floor, then return it to the dock.

The FUG10A drops to noticeably weaker audio and signal output toward the end of a shift — is this voltage sag?

Yes. As the Ni-MH pack discharges through sustained RF output, cell voltage sags under load and the radio reduces TX power automatically once it crosses the low-voltage threshold. This is normal behaviour, not a fault with the replacement pack. To extend the usable window per shift, avoid leaving the radio in scan mode continuously — idle scan draws background current and accelerates the voltage drop. Swap or recharge the pack when the bar indicator drops to one bar, which corresponds to roughly 6.6V under load on this platform.
