Fits Rexon RL328, LIS2010, LIS201, and LIS2013 radios; replaces BP-17L, BP-21L, and BP-24L packs.
7.2V lithium-ion delivers 2000mAh capacity for extended field transmit cycles without midshift power sag.
Gold connector seats vertically into Rexon dock; locking tab engages top edge to prevent accidental ejection.
BMS accepted full charge voltage on first insertion with no dock fault LED; current draw stable under sustained PTT.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth and reseat firmly — the Rexon dock requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rexon RL328 / LIS2010 Series — 7.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-17L)

This 7.2V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the BP-17L, BP-21L, and BP-24L packs in Rexon portable two-way radios. It fits the RL328, LIS2010, LIS201, and LIS2013 models. Voltage and capacity figures match the original Rexon specification exactly.

  • RL328 / LIS-series platform fit: These four models share the same 7.2V power rail, battery footprint, and contact layout. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the group, so one pack covers all four without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge cycles and repeated PTT transmit loads on the RL328. The BMS held stable during transmit current spikes and did not trip under sustained RF output draws.
  • First insertion into the Rexon dock: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first seating, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Rexon dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.

Why the RL328 drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a new BP-17L

A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V per cell, not full charge. At that level, the radio's voltage threshold logic scales back transmit power to protect the RF output stage. This is not a faulty pack. A full charge cycle brings each cell to 4.2V and resolves the TX power reduction immediately. Do not assume the replacement is defective until one complete charge has finished.

RL328 bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after pack swap

The RL328 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar display, not a fuel gauge chip. At storage voltage, the radio reads the pack as partially depleted and shows one or two bars instead of full. This clears after the first full charge brings the pack to rated voltage. If the bar count stays low after a confirmed full charge, check that the dock contacts are clean and measure terminal voltage — a healthy fully-charged pack should read 8.2–8.4V across the terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions

The RL328 cuts out completely when I press PTT — is the new BP-17L tripping the BMS?

Yes, that is a BMS overcurrent trip. The transmit current spike on PTT can exceed the BMS threshold if the pack is still at storage voltage from shipping. Charge the pack fully before first use in the radio — a cell at 3.6V per cell has less headroom to absorb the inrush current on transmit. After a full charge, the BMS threshold sits comfortably above the RL328's transmit draw and the cutout stops.

My Rexon dock blinks a fault LED and never starts charging the new pack — what's wrong?

The dock is rejecting the BMS handshake. This usually means the gold contact strip on the battery has a thin film from packaging or shipping. Remove the pack, wipe all three contacts with a dry cloth, and reseat with firm pressure until you feel it click. If the fault LED persists after reseating, measure the pack's terminal voltage — if it reads below 6.0V the cell is in deep-discharge and the dock will refuse to charge it until you recover it with a compatible Li-ion charger that has a recovery or "boost" mode.

The RL328 shows full bars right after insertion but drops two bars within the first few transmissions — is the new cell defective?

Not necessarily. At storage voltage, the radio's bar display can briefly read high when the circuit first energises, then correct itself once the cell is under load and actual terminal voltage is measured. This behaviour settles after one full charge cycle. If the two-bar drop continues after a full charge, check that the battery contacts in the radio chassis are not corroded — oxidised contacts add resistance and cause the voltage under TX load to sag more than it should, which the bar indicator reads as a depleted pack.
