Fits Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 1 and Series 2, replacing OEM part AHB501220P.
Voltage is 3.7V at 80mAh capacity — sufficient for typical wireless headset duty cycles without sag.
Connector slides into the battery slot with positive terminal facing the contact springs; locking tab seats flush.
We bench-tested the cell in a Series 1 unit; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion without error codes.
On first use, charge the headset in the base station for a full cycle before taking a call — DECT handsets require the base to log the new cell before talk-time estimates stabilize.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 1 / Series 2 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AHB501220P)

This is a 3.7V, 80mAh Li-Polymer cell (AHB501220P) for the Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 1 and Series 2. It fits the BTL1 and BTL2 platforms. When the original cell degrades and the headset drops off calls or refuses to hold charge, this cell restores full function.

  • BTL1 and BTL2 platform fit: The Series 1 and Series 2 share the same battery bay geometry, connector pin-out, and 3.7V nominal rail. Both platforms use the same BMS handshake sequence with the base station, so one cell covers both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the BTL platform. The BMS accepted the new pack without error flags, the base station logged the cell correctly, and charge termination triggered at the expected cutoff voltage.
  • Base station pairing on first install: Seat the headset in the base station and let it complete one full charge cycle before using it on a call. The base station uses that first cycle to calibrate its fuel gauge against the new cell — skipping it causes inaccurate charge indicators.

Wireless headset cutting out mid-call on a new battery

The BTL headset draws from two loads simultaneously during a call — the audio codec and the Bluetooth radio. On a freshly installed cell that has not completed its first conditioning cycle, the combined draw can push the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold momentarily, triggering a shutdown. This looks like a hardware fault but it is a cell state issue. Running three to five full charge-discharge cycles through the base station brings the cell to rated delivery capacity and eliminates the sag. After conditioning, the cell holds above 3.5V under combined load without tripping the cutoff.

Base station shows full charge but headset cuts off after a few seconds

This happens when the replacement cell arrives at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — and the base station misreads it as already charged. The fuel gauge reports 100% but the cell has not gone through a proper charge cycle from the base's charging circuit. Pull the headset from the base, power it on until it shuts off from depletion, then reseat it and charge uninterrupted to full. The base will then run a proper charge cycle and the voltage reading will be accurate.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 1 keeps cutting out mid-call even with the new battery installed — what's causing it?

The headset runs the Bluetooth radio and audio codec at the same time during a call, and that combined draw can pull a new cell below the BMS cutoff before it's been conditioned. This isn't a faulty battery — it's the cell not yet delivering full current at load. Run three to five complete charge-discharge cycles through the base station. After conditioning, the cell holds above 3.5V under load and the cutoffs stop.

The base station is flashing a charging error after I fitted the new AHB501220P cell — how do I clear it?

A charging error on the base usually means the BMS handshake didn't complete during the first seating. Remove the headset, leave it out for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly and hold it in place for a few seconds until the base station's charge indicator changes state. If the error persists, fully deplete the headset by leaving it powered on until shutdown, then reseat it — a depleted cell gives the base's charging circuit a clean starting point for the handshake.

Talk time on my Bose BTL1 headset is noticeably shorter than expected for the first few uses after replacing the battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Li-Polymer cells ship at partial charge and need several cycles to reach full electrochemical capacity. On a fresh AHB501220P cell, the first two or three cycles will feel short compared to rated capacity. By cycles four to five, the cell reaches its rated 80mAh delivery. Charge fully through the base station each time and avoid pulling the headset off the base mid-cycle during this break-in period.
