Fits Bticino L4380/B and N/NT/L4608 emergency lighting units; replaces OEM part number 23W11.
6V 80mAh Ni-MH cell powers the backup illumination system during mains failure; rated for full duration compliance testing.
Battery slides into the vertical slot with connector tab facing the circuit board; locking clip secures the pack flush against the housing.
We bench-tested this cell on a Bticino charge controller at 6V input; BMS accepted the pack within two charge cycles and held float voltage stable.
Run a full manual test cycle within 24 hours of installation by holding the test button for the rated duration — this allows the charge controller to register the new cell capacity before your next compliance audit.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bticino L4380/B & N/NT/L4608 Series — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (23W11)

This is a 6V 80mAh Ni-MH cell that replaces the original 23W11 backup battery in Bticino emergency lighting fixtures. It fits the L4380/B and N/NT/L4608 series units. The cell powers the backup illumination circuit when mains supply is interrupted.

  • L4380/B and N/NT/L4608 fitment: Both series use the same 6V Ni-MH cell with identical connector orientation and physical envelope — 31.00 × 20.30 × 16.00mm — so one cell covers all variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge-discharge cycle on the Bticino charge controller. The BMS accepted the cell within normal float voltage range, and the charge indicator transitioned to green after a complete conditioning cycle.
  • First test cycle after installation: Hold the test button for the full rated duration within 24 hours of fitting. This lets the charge controller register the new cell's capacity and confirms the cell accepts load before the next scheduled compliance inspection.

Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement

A freshly installed Ni-MH cell does not arrive at full capacity. Storage discharge means the cell may hold only a fraction of its 80mAh rated capacity on first activation. The Bticino charge controller applies a trickle float charge, but one charge cycle is not always enough to recover full capacity before an immediate test. Allow 24 hours on continuous mains power after installation, then run one complete test cycle before logging the result for compliance records.

Charge indicator staying red after confirmed correct installation

The red fault indicator stays on when the controller detects a cell voltage outside its float acceptance window — common when a replacement cell has been in storage and sits below the controller's minimum threshold. The controller will not transition to green until the cell voltage climbs into the acceptance band, which typically takes one full charge cycle at mains power. If the indicator is still red after 48 hours, check the cell connector is fully seated and the terminal contacts are clean. A brief disconnect and reconnect resets the fault latch on most L4380/B units.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Bticino emergency light passed installation but failed the duration test a week later — did I get a faulty cell?

Almost certainly not. A replacement Ni-MH cell loses charge during storage, so it may arrive with well under its rated 80mAh capacity. One charge cycle on the controller is rarely enough to bring it to full rated capacity before an early test. Leave the fitting on continuous mains power for at least 24 hours, run one complete manual test cycle, then retest for compliance — that conditioning cycle is what closes the gap.

The light comes on during a test but starts dimming after a short time — is the cell undersized?

The cell is the correct 80mAh rated capacity for this fitting. Dimming during a test almost always means the cell was not fully charged at the point of testing, not that the cell is too small. The Bticino trickle charge controller needs a full uninterrupted charge period after a new cell is fitted. Allow 24 hours on mains, perform one full-duration manual test to condition the cell, then run your compliance test — at that point the cell should sustain output for the full rated period without dimming.

The fitting is showing a fault LED even though I've double-checked the new 23W11 cell is correctly installed — how do I clear it?

On L4380/B and N/NT/L4608 units, the fault LED latches and does not self-clear even after the fault condition is resolved. Disconnect the cell connector, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect firmly — this resets the latch on most units. If the LED returns after reset, check that the cell terminal voltage is above 5.4V using a multimeter before fitting; a deeply discharged cell fresh out of packaging can sit low enough to retrigger the fault immediately.
