Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ifeituo JLECE2RW — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (DS1720-1)
This is a 3.6V 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Philips Dynalite JLECE2RW emergency lighting unit. It slots into the existing fitting and restores backup illumination capability when mains power fails. OEM part number DS1720-1 identifies this as the correct cell for this fixture.
- JLECE2RW fitting compatibility: The JLECE2RW uses a single 3.6V Ni-MH cell managed by an onboard charge controller that expects a specific charge acceptance curve. This cell matches that voltage rail and chemistry, so the controller recognises it and enters float charge correctly after the initial conditioning cycle.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and a load test simulating emergency activation. The BMS accepted the cell without fault, floated at 3.6V, and the charge indicator transitioned from red to green within the expected window.
- First test cycle after installation: Hold the test button for the full rated duration within 24 hours of fitting this cell. This confirms the cell accepts load under the charge controller and lets the controller register actual capacity before any scheduled compliance test runs against it.
Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation
A freshly fitted cell that has been in storage can arrive with a terminal voltage outside the float acceptance window of the JLECE2RW charge controller. When the controller sees a voltage below its threshold, it holds the charge LED red and continues pushing current rather than entering float. This is normal behaviour — not a fault with the cell or the fitting. Leave the unit on mains power for 24 hours and the LED will shift to green once the cell climbs into the acceptance band above 3.6V.
Emergency light dims partway through a duration test
If the light fades or dims before the rated duration is complete on the first test after replacement, the cell has not yet reached full capacity from storage conditioning. Ni-MH cells need at least one complete charge-then-discharge cycle to deliver rated capacity. Allow the unit to charge for a full 24 hours on mains, then run the test again. A cell that still dims on the second test after full charge may have a connection issue — check the solder tabs or spring contacts are making firm contact at both terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions
The fault LED is still lit on my JLECE2RW even though I've installed the new battery correctly — what's wrong?
Some Philips Dynalite fittings latch a fault condition in the controller and do not clear it automatically when a new cell is detected. Remove mains power from the fitting for 30 seconds, then restore it. This forces the charge controller to reinitialise and re-evaluate the cell voltage from scratch. If the fault LED clears within a few minutes of power restoration, the controller has accepted the new cell and the fitting is operating normally.
My JLECE2RW passed the last duration test fine, but now it fails after years of sitting on continuous charge — could the battery be swollen or damaged?
Continuous trickle charge in a warm ceiling fitting over several years can cause Ni-MH cells to overheat and swell, which collapses internal capacity and can deform the cell casing. Pull the old cell and check it visually — any bulging at the ends or sides confirms overcharge damage. The DS1720-1 replacement cell will restore function, but also check the fitting's charge controller output voltage sits at or below 3.6V float; a controller running high will damage the new cell on the same timeline.
The JLECE2RW didn't activate at all during a mains failure test after I fitted the new battery — what should I check first?
The most common cause is insufficient charge on the new cell at the time of the test. A cell coming out of storage may hold only a partial charge, and if the mains failure test runs before the controller has completed its first full charge cycle, the cell voltage drops below the activation threshold immediately. Confirm the unit has been on mains for at least 24 hours, then repeat the test. If it still fails to activate, verify the cell polarity — the JLECE2RW charge circuit is polarity-sensitive and will not charge a reversed cell.
