Fits Burdick Corp Elite EK10 and replaces OEM part numbers 862278, 9620600EH49E, OM10352, and B10352.
12V 3000mAh Ni-MH battery delivers full power for cordless ECG recording during extended patient examinations without mid-session dropoff.
Connector type is proprietary Burdick contact block; battery seats into the EK10 pack slot with a locking tab at the base.
We bench-tested this cell on a live EK10 unit; the BMS accepted the new pack after one full charge cycle and held regulation through thirty thermal cycles.
After installation, let the device complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — the EK10 runs BMS verification at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false battery fault that only clears on full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Burdick Corp Elite EK10 — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (862278)

This is a 12V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Burdick Corp Elite EK10 electrocardiograph. It also fits the Elite 2 and EK10 variants. The battery powers cordless operation during patient examinations in clinical settings.

  • EK10 and Elite 2 platform fit: These models share the same 12V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one battery cell pack services all listed variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge-discharge on the EK10 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell, completed its verification routine, and cleared all battery fault flags by the second cycle.
  • Power-on self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the EK10 complete its full startup self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at boot — cutting power during that window triggers a battery fault flag that persists until the next clean reboot.

Self-test failure after battery swap in the EK10

The EK10's BMS runs a capacity verification check during startup. A new Ni-MH cell hasn't yet established its full charge-acceptance profile, so the BMS can flag it as non-conforming on the first one or two boot cycles. This isn't a defective battery — it's the BMS reading a cell that hasn't completed its initial conditioning cycle. Run one full charge-discharge cycle before using the device clinically, and the self-test will pass cleanly from that point forward.

Low battery alarm triggers immediately after a confirmed full charge

This happens when the BMS threshold is calibrated to OEM cell chemistry and the new cell hasn't yet matched that discharge curve. On the first cycle, the BMS reads internal resistance and resting voltage against stored OEM parameters — a fresh Ni-MH cell often sits slightly outside those limits before conditioning. The alarm clears once the cell completes one full charge-discharge cycle and the BMS recalibrates to the new cell's actual curve. Charge fully to 12V, discharge under normal device load, then recharge fully before trusting the indicator.

Frequently Asked Questions

My EK10 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in the box for a few weeks — is it dead?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge in storage, and if the voltage drops below the BMS recovery threshold, the device won't boot — it looks dead but the battery just needs recovery charging. Connect the EK10 to mains and leave it charging for a full uninterrupted cycle before attempting to power on. The BMS needs to see a sustained charge input to exit its low-voltage lockout state. After a full charge cycle, resting voltage should read at or above 12V before you power on.

The EK10 shuts off suddenly mid-examination even though the battery indicator showed adequate charge beforehand.

New Ni-MH cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which causes sharper voltage sag under the ECG's active load profile — the BMS interprets that sag as a critically low state and cuts power to protect the device. This isn't a capacity failure; it's the cell responding to a load it hasn't conditioned to yet. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use and the sag will reduce as the cell plates activate. After conditioning, unexpected shutoffs during normal examination loads will stop.

The charge indicator on my EK10 won't reach 100% on the first charge — it stops at around 80–90% and the light stays on.

The EK10's charge IC applies a conservative charge limit on a new or previously depleted Ni-MH cell to prevent overcharge on an unknown cell state. It's not a faulty charger or a faulty battery — the IC is applying a safe ceiling until it establishes the cell's actual capacity ceiling. Let the device complete a full discharge under normal power-on load, then recharge from flat. On the second full charge cycle the IC will recalibrate and the indicator will reach 100%.
