Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Canon DM-MV100X Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-535)

This is a 7.4V, 4500mAh Li-ion replacement for the Canon BP-535 battery pack. It fits the DM-MV100X, DM-MV100Xi, DM-MV30, DM-MV400, and over 60 additional Canon camcorder models. Voltage and cell chemistry match the original spec exactly.

  • DM-MV series compatibility: These camcorders share a common battery bay form factor and the same 7.4V power rail. The BMS connector pinout is identical across the DM-MV line, so one battery cell covers the full range without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a DM-MV400 body. The BMS handshake completed on the first cycle, the battery-remaining indicator tracked normally, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff.
  • First-use charge cycle on Canon camcorders: Insert the battery and charge it fully inside the Canon charger or camera body before your first shoot. Some Canon BMS firmware will not display accurate battery-remaining percentages until it has completed one full charge cycle from within an OEM-compatible charger.

Canon BMS rejecting a third-party cell on first install

Canon camcorder firmware performs a basic authentication check when a new cell is inserted. If the battery icon flashes or the camera refuses to power on, the BMS has not yet accepted the new cell. Place the battery in the Canon charger until the charge light goes solid green, then reinsert it into the camcorder body. That single charge cycle from an OEM-compatible charger is usually enough to clear the rejection flag.

Battery percentage jumping erratically during recording

Canon's battery indicator maps percentage to a voltage-threshold curve calibrated against the original BP-535 discharge profile. A new replacement cell may have a slightly different discharge curve, causing the indicator to jump — for example, from 60% to 30% without warning. This is a calibration issue, not a cell defect. Running two or three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body resets the learned curve and stabilises the display readout.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Canon DM-MV100X shows a blinking battery icon and won't start recording — is the replacement cell faulty?

This is almost always the Canon BMS authentication check, not a dead cell. Remove the battery, place it in the Canon charger until the green indicator goes solid, then reinsert it into the camcorder. One full charge cycle from an OEM-compatible charger is enough to pass the authentication check in most cases.

The battery percentage on my DM-MV400 jumped from 55% down to 10% mid-shoot — what's happening?

Canon's onboard fuel gauge maps percentage to a fixed voltage-threshold curve tuned for the original BP-535 discharge profile. A new cell's discharge curve sits slightly outside that map, so the indicator skips thresholds instead of stepping evenly. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the gauge recalibrates to the new cell's actual curve.

Shot count seems lower than expected — the camcorder drains this battery faster than my old one did in cold weather.

Li-ion cells lose available capacity below 10°C because internal resistance rises as temperature drops, which compresses the usable voltage window before the BMS low-voltage cutoff triggers. Keep the battery in an inside jacket pocket until just before shooting and swap it back when not rolling. At 0°C, expect available capacity to drop roughly 15–20% compared to room-temperature performance — this is a chemistry limit, not a cell defect.
