Fits Canon BP-608 and BP-608A battery slots across C2, DM-MV1, DM-MV10, E1, and 27 additional Canon camera bodies.
Delivers 7.4V and 800mAh capacity — sufficient for standard shooting sessions without flash-heavy operation or extended video recording.
Connector aligns with Canon's spring-loaded battery door slot; no modification needed for physical installation or removal.
We bench-tested this cell in a Canon C2 body; BMS accepted the new pack after one full charge cycle via the camera's internal charger circuit.
On first installation, run one complete charge cycle through the camera body — Canon's BMS requires this internal charge handshake to display accurate battery percentage on the LCD.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Canon BP-608 / BP-608A — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 7.4V, 800mAh Li-ion replacement cell for Canon cameras and camcorders using the BP-608 or BP-608A battery. It fits a wide range of Canon models including the C2, DM-MV1, DM-MV10, and E1 series, among others. The cell matches OEM voltage and form factor exactly.

  • Canon BP-608 platform compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The BP-608 and BP-608A are interchangeable designations for the same battery format across this Canon lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a Canon body and OEM charger. The BMS handshake completed cleanly on first charge, and the pack held stable voltage output across a full discharge without triggering a premature cutoff.
  • First-use charge cycle tip: Run one complete charge cycle through the Canon body or OEM charger before shooting. Some Canon camera BMS systems need this cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining display accurately — skipping it can cause the indicator to read inconsistently from the first use.

Canon BMS rejecting a new BP-608 cell on first install

Canon camera bodies run an authentication check when a new cell is installed. If the BMS hasn't seen a full charge cycle from an approved charger, it may flag the cell as incompatible or refuse to display charge state. This isn't a fault with the replacement cell — it's the BMS waiting for initialisation. Insert the battery, charge fully via the Canon OEM charger or in-body charging, then power the camera on. After that first cycle, the body should recognise the cell and display charge level correctly.

Battery percentage jumping erratically during a shoot

Canon's battery indicator maps charge state using voltage thresholds calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly different curve will sometimes cause the indicator to jump — say, from 60% to 20% without warning. This doesn't mean the cell is defective; it means the BMS is recalibrating its threshold mapping. After two or three full charge and discharge cycles, the indicator typically stabilises. If it doesn't settle after three cycles, check that the resting voltage after a full charge reads at or above 8.3V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Canon camera shows a dead battery icon but the replacement BP-608 is fully charged — what's happening?

This is the Canon BMS authentication check triggering on a new cell it hasn't initialised yet. Remove the battery, reinsert it, and charge fully using the OEM Canon charger or in-body charging before powering on. That charge cycle completes the BMS handshake. After one full charge, the camera should read the cell correctly and clear the dead battery indicator.

The shot count on the new BP-608 is lower than I expected — is the cell underspec?

Shot count drops significantly when flash, continuous autofocus, image stabilisation, or video recording are active simultaneously — these loads stack and draw well beyond the baseline spec. The 800mAh rating reflects capacity under standard conditions, not a worst-case combined draw. Check which features are running during your shoot and reduce simultaneous high-draw operations. If the cell still depletes unusually fast with minimal load, verify the resting voltage after a full charge sits at or above 8.3V.

The flash on my Canon is taking longer to recycle between shots toward the end of the charge — is that normal?

Yes. Flash capacitor recharge draws a high current burst, and as the cell voltage drops toward the end of its discharge curve, it can't supply that burst as quickly. This causes recycling to slow noticeably below roughly 30% charge. It's a voltage sag effect at low state-of-charge, not a cell fault. Recharge when you notice recycling times extending — don't run the pack fully flat, as repeated deep discharges accelerate capacity fade in Li-ion cells.
