This is a 7.2V, 2700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the CardinalHealth Alaris GH and Asena GS-GH infusion pumps. It replaces OEM part numbers 1000SP01080 and 1000SP01122. These pumps use this battery to sustain IV drug delivery during transport or power interruptions.

  • Alaris GH and Asena GS-GH platform fit: Both models share the same 7.2V battery rail, physical form factor, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell pack covers both. No adapter or wiring modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the Alaris GH platform. The BMS completed voltage verification without fault codes on the second full cycle. First-cycle capacity reporting normalized after one complete charge-discharge pass.
  • Post-swap self-test requirement: After installing this battery, allow the pump to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Cutting power during this sequence causes the BMS to log a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge

The Alaris GH BMS measures internal resistance alongside voltage when evaluating a new cell. Fresh Ni-MH cells have slightly elevated internal resistance before the first few charge-discharge cycles, which the BMS can interpret as a degraded pack. This triggers the low battery alarm even when the cell is fully charged at 8.64V open circuit. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical use — the BMS recalibrates its resistance threshold on the second cycle and the alarm clears.

Pump not powering on after battery was stored before installation

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day. A pack stored for several months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 5.4V for a 7.2V pack — which causes the BMS to lock out startup entirely. Connect the pump to mains power first and allow the charge IC to perform a trickle pre-charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to boot on battery alone. Once the pack crosses 6.0V, normal charging resumes and the pump will start.

The Alaris GH shows a low battery warning straight after we charged the new pack — is the cell faulty?

It is not faulty. Fresh Ni-MH cells have higher internal resistance before cycling, and the Alaris GH BMS flags resistance above its threshold as a degraded pack, even at full voltage. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on mains power before clinical deployment. The BMS resets its resistance baseline on the second cycle and the alarm stops.

The pump won't power on at all after we installed the replacement battery — it just sits blank on the screen.

The cell likely self-discharged below the BMS recovery threshold during storage, typically around 5.4V on a 7.2V Ni-MH pack. The BMS blocks startup at that voltage to prevent a brownout during boot. Plug into mains and leave the pump connected for at least 30 minutes — the charge IC runs a trickle pre-charge that brings the pack back above 6.0V, after which normal boot proceeds.

The charge indicator is stuck below 100% after hours on the charger — why won't it complete?

The Alaris GH charge IC applies a conservative current limit on new cells during the first charge to avoid heat stress. This extends the first charge noticeably longer than subsequent cycles. Leave the pump on mains until the indicator clears — it will reach 100% once the IC switches from bulk to trickle phase. From the second charge onward, the timing returns to the normal charge duration you expect from the OEM pack.
