Fits Mediana YM1000 TENS unit, replaces OEM part number M6021-0 battery pack.
8.4V, 7600mAh Ni-MH cell delivers sustained output for portable therapeutic sessions.
Battery slides into the YM1000 slot with forward orientation; locking tab seats flush.
We ran full charge cycles on the YM1000 platform; Ni-MH BMS accepted the cell without fault codes.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical devices verify new cells at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that clears only on full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mediana YM1000 / YM5500 — 8.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (M6021-0)

This is an 8.4V, 7600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Mediana YM1000 and YM5500 portable TENS units, and the Moteur Vital Signs monitor. It replaces OEM part number M6021-0. Capacity matches the original cell pack — no modification required at the battery bay.

  • YM1000, YM5500, and Moteur Vital Signs compatibility: All three platforms share the M6021-0 form factor, the same 8.4V nominal rail, and the same physical connector. The BMS in each device reads the same charge termination signal, so no firmware unlock or adapter is needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell pack through charge, load, and termination on a YM1000 unit. The BMS accepted charge without triggering a false fault, and the load profile across stimulation output remained consistent through ten full cycles.
  • Post-swap startup protocol: After installing this battery, allow the YM1000 or YM5500 to complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting it. Medical device BMS verification runs at startup — cutting power mid-sequence locks in a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Why the YM1000 alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The YM1000 BMS uses a stored capacity baseline from the previous cell to evaluate charge state at startup. A new cell has no history in that register, so the device reads the voltage curve as below threshold and triggers the alarm. This is not a faulty battery — it is a learn-cycle gap. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle and the BMS resets its baseline to the new cell's actual capacity curve. The alarm clears after that first full cycle.

YM1000 will not power on after the replacement battery sat in the box for several months

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage — typically dropping to around 1.0V per cell or below over several months. At that level, the BMS recovery threshold is not met and the device refuses to boot. Place the battery on charge immediately and leave it connected for a full charge cycle before attempting to power on the unit. Once the pack reaches approximately 8.4V, the BMS re-initialises and the device will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

The YM1000 shows a low battery warning the moment it powers on, even though I just finished charging — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The device BMS holds a capacity baseline from the old cell, and a new cell with no cycle history reads as below threshold at startup. Run one complete charge followed by a full discharge under normal therapy use, then recharge. After that first full cycle the BMS recalibrates to the new cell and the warning clears.

My YM5500 shuts off unexpectedly during a therapy session after swapping to the new battery — what is causing this?

New Ni-MH cells deliver less stable current in the first several cycles while the cell chemistry conditions. The YM5500 load profile during active stimulation output stresses the pack harder than a resting charge state, and the BMS interprets the voltage sag as a cutoff condition. Continue normal use through the first ten full charge-discharge cycles — cell internal resistance drops as the pack conditions, and the mid-session shutoffs stop once the chemistry stabilises.

The charge indicator on the YM1000 never reaches 100% on the first charge of the new battery — should I be concerned?

No. The device charge IC applies a conservative termination limit on an unconditioned Ni-MH cell to avoid overcharge on an unknown pack. The first charge will often terminate early, typically between 85% and 95% indicated. Discharge the pack through a normal session and then run a second full charge — the IC adjusts its termination point to the actual cell capacity and the indicator will reach 100% from that cycle onward.
