Kangaroo Joey will not power on after the battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge over time, and the Kangaroo Joey's BMS has a minimum voltage threshold below which it will refuse to initialise — the device simply will not boot. If the pump shows no response after battery installation, connect it to the charger and leave it on charge for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power on. This allows the cell voltage to rise above the BMS recovery floor, typically around 3.0V per cell. Once the charge indicator is active and rising, the device will power on normally.

This is the charge IC protecting an unknown cell from overcharge, not a sign the battery is defective. Leave the pump on charge for a full uninterrupted session — subsequent charges will reach 100% once the charge IC has established a baseline for the cell.
