Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Casio DT-900 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DT-923)
This 3.7V 700mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original pack in the Casio DT-900 barcode scanner family. It fits the DT-900, DT-900M, DT-900M50, DT-900M50E, and several additional variants in this series. Capacity matches OEM spec at 2.59Wh.
- DT-900 series fit: These models share the same 3.7V cell format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the scanner's charge controller reads pack authentication before enabling the scan trigger, so the replacement must match those communication parameters exactly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge acceptance and BMS trip testing on the DT-900 platform. The cell held voltage above the scanner's minimum threshold during rapid scan bursts, and the BMS did not trip under combined radio and laser draw.
- First-shift preparation: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before starting pick-and-pack. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS cutoffs on the first shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The DT-900 cradle reads pack voltage through spring-loaded contact pins before it opens the charge circuit. Oxidation or debris on the battery contact pads raises resistance enough that the dock misreads the pack as faulty. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds, the contacts were the cause — not the cell.
Scanner loses wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The DT-900 pulls power simultaneously from the wireless radio and the scan trigger during high-frequency scanning. A degraded or low cell can sag below the radio module's minimum voltage for a fraction of a second — enough for the wireless link to drop. This replacement pack maintains a stable voltage curve under that combined load because the cell has not yet experienced the cycle degradation that causes sag. If dropout persists, confirm the pack is fully charged to 4.2V before the shift begins.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my DT-900 stop reading barcodes immediately after I put in a new battery?
The scanner's laser or imager module requires a minimum voltage before the scan trigger will fire — if the replacement pack shipped at partial charge, the cell may sit just below that threshold. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge it fully before first use. We confirmed during bench testing that the BMS allows normal trigger operation once the cell is above 3.9V. A full cradle charge cycle before the first shift resolves this in almost every case.
The scanner runs noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous use — is that a battery problem?
Sustained scanning plus constant wireless polling generates significant heat inside the DT-900's enclosed housing, and the battery does contribute to that thermal load during discharge. Some warmth is normal. If the housing becomes hot to hold rather than warm, check that the cradle contacts are clean and making good connection during any rest periods — a high-resistance charge path forces the cell to work harder on each discharge cycle. So long as the scanner is warm but not hot and scan performance is normal, there is no fault to address.
My DT-900 used to last a full shift but now it's dying well before the end — what's actually happening inside the battery?
Li-ion cells lose usable capacity through shallow-cycle degradation — frequent top-up charges from the cradle without full discharge-and-recharge cycles accelerate this. The DT-900's BMS still reports a full charge, but the cell's actual energy window has contracted. Replacing the pack restores the original 700mAh capacity. To slow future degradation, allow the pack to reach a low charge state before cradle charging rather than topping up every time the scanner passes a dock.
