This 3.6V 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Chameleon RF WT2200 and RF WT2280 handheld barcode scanners. Both models run on the same 3.6V single-cell architecture and share the same OEM part numbers: 20-16228-07 and 20-16228-09. Capacity is 1800mAh (6.48Wh) — matching the original specification.

• WT2200 and WT2280 compatibility: Both scanner variants use identical battery bays, connector pinouts, and BMS handshake logic. The same cell fits both without modification or adapter — the voltage rail and communication lines are shared across the series.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the WT2200's charge management circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault flags. Charge termination and over-discharge cutoff both triggered at expected thresholds.

A charging error on a freshly installed battery usually points to contact resistance between the pack terminals and the cradle's charging pins, not a fault with the cell itself. Oxidation or debris on either surface breaks the low-voltage handshake the cradle uses to begin the charge cycle. Wipe the battery contacts and cradle pins with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and check that the pack is flush in the bay. The charge indicator should clear within 30 seconds of a clean connection.

During a fast scan sequence, the WT2200 draws simultaneously from the wireless radio and the scan trigger — two inrush loads hitting the cell at the same time. If the battery is aged or sitting at a low state of charge, the combined draw causes a brief voltage sag that the BMS reads as an unsafe drop, momentarily cutting output and dropping the wireless link. This is not a radio fault — it is the BMS protecting the cell. Start each shift with a fully charged pack and the connection drops should stop.
