Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic Memor X3 / 5-2043 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 3.6V 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Datalogic Memor X3 handheld barcode scanner and compatible models including the 5-2043, 5-2352, 5-2389, and EBS-16NMH. It fits the physical bay and matches the voltage rail the scanner's BMS expects. Capacity is 1800mAh (6.48Wh), sourced to match OEM spec.
- Memor X3 platform fit: The 5-2043, 5-2352, and 5-2389 all share the same battery bay geometry and 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH architecture. The BMS on these units does not require a proprietary handshake — voltage match and correct cell chemistry are what matter for the scanner to power on and hold connection.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on Memor X3 hardware. The BMS accepted the pack without error flags, and voltage held stable across sustained scan bursts combined with active wireless polling — the two highest simultaneous draws this platform sees in warehouse use.
- First-shift cradle cycle: After installing this pack, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before deploying on the floor. The scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge. A pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift — particularly during rapid pick-and-pack sequences where the trigger fires repeatedly in quick succession.
Cradle showing charging error on a new pack
Datalogic cradles use contact-based charging — a thin film of oxidation or dust on the battery's gold contacts is enough to raise resistance and trigger a charging fault. This is not a battery defect. Remove the pack, wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle dock with a dry cloth or isopropyl alcohol, then reseat firmly. If the error clears, run a full charge cycle before returning the unit to service. Contact resistance above roughly 100mΩ is enough to cause the dock to reject the pack.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The Memor X3 draws from the battery simultaneously for the imager, the wireless radio, and onboard processing. During rapid scan sequences, the combined inrush can pull voltage momentarily low enough for the radio module to drop its connection before recovering. This is more common with a partially depleted cell. If dropouts occur mid-shift, check the battery level indicator — if it reads below two bars, return the unit to the cradle. A fully charged cell maintains enough voltage headroom to sustain both the scan trigger and active RF transmission without sag-induced disconnects.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Datalogic scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?
The imager or laser needs a minimum voltage to fire at full power, and a freshly installed Ni-MH pack that hasn't been charged can sit below that threshold. Put the scanner in its cradle and charge it fully before use — the cell needs to reach at least 4.2V across the pack before the imager draws cleanly. Once charged, reseat the battery firmly so the contacts are fully engaged, then test a scan.
The scanner feels warm after a long shift — is that a problem with the battery?
Sustained scanning combined with active wireless polling generates continuous current draw, and Ni-MH cells produce more heat than Li-ion under that kind of load — this is normal for the chemistry. What's not normal is heat concentrated at the battery bay or contacts, which points to a contact-resistance issue. Check that the pack is seated flush and the bay contacts are clean. If the housing is uniformly warm after a full shift, that's expected; if it's hot to the touch, pull the pack and inspect the contacts before the next shift.
This battery doesn't last as long as my previous one did — what affects shift endurance on these scanners?
Two things drain the Memor X3 faster than most users expect: scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval. A unit set to continuous RF polling in a busy warehouse network draws significantly more than one scanning intermittently on a quiet channel. Ni-MH capacity also drops noticeably in temperatures below 15°C — if your warehouse runs cold, expect reduced endurance compared to rated capacity. Check your wireless polling settings in the device config and confirm the pack was fully charged before the shift started.
