Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Cefar Myo 4 / Activ 4 / Rehab 4 Pro — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (2651)
This 7.2V 2000mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original cell in the Cefar Myo 4, Activ 4, Rehab 4 Pro, and Bodymax Trainer (NGSF4) electrotherapy units. All four devices share the same battery bay, connector, and BMS handshake protocol. Capacity matches the OEM specification — 14.4Wh.
- Shared platform — Myo 4, Activ 4, Rehab 4 Pro, Bodymax Trainer: These units run the same 7.2V power architecture, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS communication logic. One cell fits all four without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, load, and self-test sequences on the Cefar platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without faulting, completed its chemistry verification pass, and held voltage within spec under simulated stimulation load.
- Power-on self-test — do not interrupt: After inserting this battery, let the device complete its full startup sequence before beginning any session. The Cefar BMS runs a cell-verification check at boot. Interrupting it locks in a false battery fault that won't clear until the next full cold reboot.
Low battery alarm on the Cefar Myo 4 immediately after a confirmed full charge
The Myo 4's BMS stores a chemistry profile calibrated against the OEM cell's internal resistance curve. A new replacement cell has a slightly different resistance signature until it beds in over the first few cycles. The BMS reads this as a weaker cell than expected and triggers the low-battery threshold early. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical use — after that, the BMS recalibrates its reference point and the alarm clears. If the alarm persists past cycle three, check resting voltage with a multimeter: a healthy charged cell should read 8.4–8.6V.
Cefar device won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day in storage. If this battery shipped or sat unused for several weeks, its resting voltage may have dropped below the Cefar BMS recovery threshold — typically around 5.4V for a 7.2V pack. The BMS interprets this as a damaged or absent cell and refuses to boot. Connect the charger and leave it for a minimum of four hours before attempting power-on; the charge IC will trickle-charge the pack back above the recovery floor before switching to full current. Do not attempt to force a boot during this phase.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Cefar Myo 4 shows a low battery warning straight after I put in a freshly charged replacement — what's happening?
The Myo 4 BMS compares the new cell's internal resistance against a stored OEM reference profile. A fresh replacement cell reads slightly higher resistance than a bedded-in original, so the BMS flags it as weak before it has calibrated to the new chemistry. Run one full charge-discharge cycle without interrupting the startup self-test sequence. After that cycle, a healthy cell at full charge should read 8.4–8.6V at the terminals and the alarm should not reappear.
My Cefar Rehab 4 Pro cuts out mid-session after swapping the battery — is the cell faulty?
Not necessarily. In the first ten cycles, new Ni-MH cells handle the pulsed current draw of electrotherapy stimulation less efficiently than a bedded-in cell — voltage sag under load is higher, and the BMS may hit its cutoff threshold before the pack is genuinely depleted. This resolves as the cell's internal resistance drops through normal cycling. Complete five full charge-discharge cycles before treating this as a fault; if cutoffs still occur after that, measure the cell voltage immediately after shutdown — a reading below 6.0V under load points to a cell defect rather than a calibration gap.
The charge indicator on my Cefar Activ 4 won't reach 100% on the first charge after fitting this battery — is the charger broken?
The charger is almost certainly fine. The Cefar charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects an unfamiliar resistance profile, which is standard behaviour with a new Ni-MH cell. It extends the charge phase rather than risking overcharge on an uncalibrated pack. Leave the device on charge for a full uninterrupted cycle — typically longer than you'd expect on the first pass. After one complete charge-discharge cycle the charge IC updates its endpoint detection, and subsequent charges will terminate at the correct point.
