Clarity C410 / C420 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the rechargeable handset pack in the Clarity C410, C4105, C420, C4205, and compatible models. It restores cordless operation when the original cell no longer holds charge. Physical dimensions are 46.00 × 31.00 × 10.50mm — verify against your handset compartment before installing.
- C410 and C420 platform fit: These models share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH architecture, handset bay dimensions, and connector orientation. One battery SKU covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the C410 platform. The cell voltage climbed steadily to 4.2V under trickle charge and the base station dropped to maintenance current without fault.
- First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before use. NiMH cells shipped in partial-discharge storage need a slow first charge to reach rated capacity — pulling the handset early will limit talk time across all subsequent cycles.

NiMH cells stored for extended periods can sit below 3.0V — low enough that the base station's charge controller refuses to begin a charge cycle. This is a protection threshold, not a fault with the battery or the base. Place the handset in the cradle and leave it undisturbed. Most Clarity bases will begin trickle-charging within 30 minutes once the cell voltage rises above the acceptance floor, typically around 3.2V.
Range drops noticeably when the handset moves away from the base
DECT transmitters draw a short burst of current each time the handset communicates with the base. If the NiMH cell is not yet fully conditioned, voltage sags under this RF load and the handset reduces transmit power to compensate. The result is a shorter usable range than the original battery delivered. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and range will stabilise as the cells reach rated capacity — check that resting voltage holds above 3.4V between calls.

My Clarity C410 talk time is much shorter than the old battery — is something wrong with the replacement?
Nothing is wrong. NiMH cells ship partially discharged and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. Each cycle, the cell recovers a little more usable energy. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator appears, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — by cycle five, talk time should stabilise near the rated 700mAh output.
The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?
Some DECT phones lose their registration data when power is completely removed from the handset. The battery swap interrupts power long enough to clear the pairing. Re-register the handset manually: press and hold the page or find button on the base until the registration tone sounds, then initiate pairing from the handset menu. The exact button sequence is in your C410 user guide under "Register Handset."
The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting on the base — what causes that?
If the handset is not fully seated in the cradle, the charging contacts lose connection and the base stops delivering current. The handset then runs entirely off the battery in standby mode and is flat by morning. Press the handset firmly into the base until you hear or feel it click, then check that the charge indicator light activates. Clean the cradle contacts with a dry cloth if seating the handset correctly does not restore the charge light.
