Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clevo W217CU / W217 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (W217BAT-3)
This is an 11.1V Li-ion replacement battery for the Clevo W217CU and W217 notebook computers. It carries a capacity of 2200mAh (24.42Wh) and matches OEM part numbers W217BAT-3, W217BAT-6, 6-87-W217S-4D41, and 6-87-W217S-4DF1. The cell fits the original battery bay without modification.
- W217CU and W217 platform fit: Both models share the same 11.1V three-cell battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — one cell covers both. The SMBus data lines carry charge state and health data to the BIOS using the same register map across this series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a W217-series chassis and confirmed the BMS handshake completed cleanly, charge termination triggered at the correct voltage ceiling, and the protection circuit tripped as expected on a simulated over-discharge condition.
- Post-install calibration on the W217: After fitting, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates at the low-voltage cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell's actual capacity and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting the W217BAT-3
The W217 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers that were written by the original cell during its service life. A new cell arrives with fresh EEPROM values that don't match the accumulated cycle history the BIOS expects, so it flags the battery as degraded before a single cycle has run. This is a data mismatch, not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — the BIOS learn cycle rewrites those registers against the new cell. The health warning clears after one or two completed cycles on most W217 units.
W217CU shutting down abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the cell hits a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load — the fuel gauge IC is reading state-of-charge from a model calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, not the new one. The reported percentage and the actual cell voltage fall out of sync, so the laptop cuts power before the gauge reaches zero. It is not a faulty cell — it is an uncalibrated fuel gauge IC. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and full charge cycles without interrupting the charge, and the IC recalibrates its model. After calibration, confirm resting voltage at the reported 30% mark sits between 10.8V and 11.1V — if it does, the gauge is now tracking correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Clevo W217CU BIOS shows the new battery as "0%" or "unknown" right after installation — is the cell dead?
No — the BIOS is reading stale EEPROM data from the old cell's registers and hasn't yet run a learn cycle against the new one. Boot the laptop on AC power, let it complete a full charge to 100%, then disconnect AC and let it discharge fully until the system hibernates. Reconnect AC and charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle the BIOS re-registers the cell and the readout corrects itself.
My W217 system info panel shows the battery's Wh rating as lower than the 24.42Wh listed on the replacement — why doesn't it match?
The Wh figure shown in system info is pulled from the EEPROM rated value written during cell manufacturing, and it may differ slightly from the measured capacity once the cell has been cycled on your specific chassis. The EEPROM value is a factory nominal; actual delivered capacity depends on temperature, load, and how many calibration cycles have completed. Run two full discharge-and-charge cycles and the fuel gauge IC will converge on a more accurate figure. The 24.42Wh in the product data reflects the cell's rated specification, which is the correct reference value.
New W217BAT-3 cell stops charging at around 80% and won't go higher — is there a fault with the replacement?
On some W217 units the BIOS ships with a charge-limit setting enabled in firmware that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress during AC-connected use. This is a BIOS configuration, not a fault in the battery or its BMS. Enter the BIOS setup utility at boot, navigate to the battery or power management section, and look for a "Battery Charge Control" or charge threshold option. Set the upper threshold to 100% and save — the next charge cycle will complete to full voltage.
