Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clevo W350ST / W355ST Series — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (6-87-W370S-427)
This 14.8V, 5200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in Clevo W350ST, W355ST, W355SS, and XMG-A723 notebooks. It matches the OEM voltage, connector, and BMS handshake required by these platforms. Capacity is 76.96Wh — use this figure to cross-check against system information after install.
- W350ST / W370S platform fit: These models share a common battery bay, four-pin SMBus connector, and 14.8V nominal rail. Part numbers 6-87-W370S-427, 6-87-W37ES-427, 6-87-W37SS-427, W370BAT-8, and W370BAT-3 all reference this same cell configuration — the BMS communicates capacity and health data identically across the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a W350ST unit. The BMS accepted the cell without error codes, charge termination triggered correctly at 16.8V, and low-voltage cutoff engaged before cell damage thresholds were reached.
- Post-install discharge cycle: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health or low-capacity warning that almost always appears after any cell swap on this platform.
Why the W350ST shuts down at 20–30% charge remaining
This happens when the fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded cell. The BIOS maps voltage curves from the previous battery and misreads the new cell's actual state of charge. Under combined CPU and display load, the system hits a voltage point it interprets as near-empty and triggers a forced shutdown. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces a recalibration against the new cell's actual chemistry.
BIOS showing battery health as "poor" or "unknown" straight after install
The W350ST reads health status from EEPROM data embedded in the battery's BMS, not from live voltage alone. A new cell ships with a cycle count of zero and rated capacity data that doesn't match the worn charge history the BIOS was tracking. This mismatch triggers a false health warning — it is not a fault with the replacement cell. Complete one full learn cycle as described above and the BIOS health indicator will update to reflect the actual cell state.

Frequently Asked Questions
My W350ST shows 76Wh in system info but Windows still reports the battery design capacity as much lower — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The Wh figure in system information pulls from the EEPROM on the battery's BMS, which reports the rated 76.96Wh correctly. Windows' "design capacity" figure is read from a separate fuel gauge register that only updates after calibration cycles. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff and one uninterrupted charge to 100% — after that cycle, the design capacity value will align with the cell's actual rating.
The fuel gauge on my W350ST jumps around wildly — shows 60%, then 45%, then 70% within minutes of unplugging.
This is a fuel gauge IC calibration issue, not a defective cell. The IC that tracks state of charge uses a discharge model built from the old battery's behaviour — the new cell has different internal resistance and a steeper voltage curve at higher charge levels, so the estimates are erratic. The gauge needs two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles to build an accurate model against the new chemistry. After those cycles, the reported percentage will track steadily.
New battery installed but the W350ST won't charge above 80% — stops there every time.
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a battery fault. Some Clevo BIOS versions ship with a charge threshold feature active — it caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during AC-connected use. Go into the BIOS setup utility, look under Power or Battery settings, and disable the charge threshold or set the upper limit to 100%. Save and reboot, then reconnect the charger — the cell will charge to the full 16.8V termination point from there.
