Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gigabyte P27G v2 / P2742G — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 14.8V 5200mAh (76.96Wh) Li-ion battery for the Gigabyte P27G v2, P2742, and P2742G laptops. It replaces the original cell when the factory battery has degraded, stopped holding charge, or failed to register correctly with the BIOS. Voltage and connector match the original spec — no modification needed.
- P27G v2 / P2742 platform fit: These three models share the same battery bay dimensions, 14.8V rail, and four-pin SMBus connector. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the P2742 and P2742G variants, so one cell covers all three.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a P27G v2 chassis. The BMS communicated state-of-charge correctly, thermal cutoff triggered at expected thresholds, and charge termination occurred cleanly at 16.8V.
- Post-install discharge cycle on the P27G v2: After fitting, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff on battery alone — no AC mid-cycle — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health flag that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
Why the P27G v2 BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap
The P27G v2 stores battery health data in EEPROM on the old cell. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS reads no learned data and flags the battery as degraded or unknown. This is a calibration state, not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted full charge writes fresh learn-cycle data and clears the warning.
Laptop shuts off at 20–30% charge shown on the P27G v2
Under combined CPU and display load, a degraded or uncalibrated cell hits a voltage cliff — the pack voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge reaches zero. The OS reads remaining capacity from the old EEPROM data, so the displayed percentage and actual usable charge no longer match. After the post-install learn cycle, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's actual voltage curve. If shutdowns persist after two full calibration cycles, check AC adapter output is stable at 19V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Gigabyte P27G v2 BIOS is showing the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" — is the cell dead?
The fuel gauge IC on this platform reads state-of-charge from EEPROM data written by the previous cell. A brand-new cell has no stored data, so the BIOS displays 0% or "unknown" until it completes a learn cycle. Run the laptop down fully on battery until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. After one complete cycle the BIOS should report an accurate percentage.
Why is the P27G v2 showing 76Wh in system info but Windows reports a different design capacity?
The rated Wh on the cell label comes from nominal voltage multiplied by rated capacity — 14.8V × 5200mAh gives 76.96Wh. Windows reads design capacity from the battery's EEPROM, which reports in mWh and uses a slightly different voltage reference, so the displayed figure can differ by a few percent. This is a reporting difference between the EEPROM register and the label calculation — not a sign the cell is underspec. Cross-check by confirming full charge voltage reaches 16.8V with a multimeter at the connector.
The replacement battery on my P27G v2 stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher — is the BIOS limiting it?
Some Gigabyte BIOS versions include a battery charge limit setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell wear. Open the BIOS setup utility (Delete key at POST), navigate to the Advanced or Smart Fan / Battery settings tab, and look for a "Battery Health Mode" or charge limit toggle. Disable it or set the threshold to 100%. Save, reboot, and plug in — the battery should charge past 80% on the next cycle.
