Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Coolpad 8809 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CPLD-69)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion battery rated at 1700mAh (6.29Wh), built to the CPLD-69 spec for the Coolpad 8809 smartphone. It replaces the original cell when the phone no longer holds charge, shuts down unexpectedly, or won't power on. The connector and BMS pinout match the 8809 motherboard directly.
- Coolpad 8809 fit: The 8809 uses a fixed 3.7V rail tied to its baseband processor and display driver. Any replacement cell must match this voltage and the CPLD-69 BMS handshake — a mismatch here causes the charge IC to reject the pack entirely.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the 8809 platform. The BMS responded correctly at both charge cutoff (4.2V) and low-voltage protection (2.5V), with no thermal events or rejected handshakes.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing this cell, disable any fast-charge mode and complete one full discharge-charge cycle before normal use. This gives the 8809's fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve — skipping this step causes the percentage readout to drift or jump erratically for the first several cycles.
Why the Coolpad 8809 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The 8809 uses a coulomb counter in the fuel gauge IC that builds its percentage model against the original cell's discharge curve. When you install a new cell, that learned curve no longer matches. The IC continues using old calibration data, so the percentage you see on screen diverges from actual charge state. One full discharge to auto-shutoff followed by a complete charge to 100% forces the IC to relearn against the new cell and restores accurate readouts.
Coolpad 8809 shutting down suddenly at 20–30% remaining
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under the combined load of the modem radio and display — a voltage cliff the fuel gauge did not predict. An aged or degraded original cell loses its ability to sustain voltage under peak draw, so the BMS trips the low-voltage cutoff before the percentage reaches zero. Replacing the cell with a fresh CPLD-69 unit eliminates the sag. After replacement, confirm the cell rests at or above 3.7V open-circuit before the first charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Coolpad 8809 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for several months — is the battery dead?
Most likely the cell discharged below 2.5V in storage and the BMS has entered lockout to prevent damage. Plug it into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button. If the BMS recovers, the phone will show a charging indicator; once it does, let it charge fully to 100% before powering on. If no indicator appears after an hour, the original cell is permanently discharged and needs replacement with a new CPLD-69 unit.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery in my Coolpad 8809 — the phone only charges slowly now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the 8809 sometimes defaults to trickle or standard charge rate because the new BMS has not yet completed a handshake with the phone's USB charge controller. Complete one full charge to 100% using standard charging, then disconnect and allow the phone to discharge normally. On the second cycle, plug back in — the fast charge protocol should reinitiate once the BMS has registered one complete cycle.
The battery percentage on my Coolpad 8809 is jumping around erratically — it went from 45% to 12% in two minutes.
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve after a replacement, or losing calibration on a degraded original cell. The coulomb counter's stored model no longer matches actual cell behaviour, so percentage readings become unreliable under load. Run one uninterrupted discharge from 100% down to automatic shutoff, then charge back to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, open the phone app or any active screen and verify the percentage stays stable under normal load.
