Fits Sprint SCH-M580, Replenish, and SPH-M930 smartphones; replaces original 3.7V lithium-ion battery.
3.7V nominal output delivers 1700mAh capacity for full operational runtime on the SCH-M580 platform.
Connector slides into the original battery slot with a friction-fit contact tab; orientation marked on device.
We bench-tested this cell on an SCH-M580 simulator — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion, fuel gauge IC read full charge without lockout.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the coulomb counter recalibrates against the new cell curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sprint SCH-M580 / Replenish / SPH-M930 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Sprint SCH-M580, Replenish, and SPH-M930 smartphones. All three models share the same battery compartment dimensions and connector, making this a direct swap across the platform. Capacity is drawn from the product specification at 1700mAh (6.29Wh).

  • SCH-M580, Replenish, and SPH-M930 platform fit: These three Sprint handsets share the same physical cell footprint at 64.60 × 43.90 × 5.20mm, the same 3.7V nominal voltage rail, and the same three-contact connector layout — so one cell covers all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench, confirming the BMS holds charge acceptance without triggering an early cutoff and that voltage stays stable under the combined load of the modem radio and display.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge down to the automatic shutdown point, then charge fully without interruption. This gives the fuel gauge IC on the SCH-M580 a clean reference curve against the new cell before it starts reporting percentages to the OS.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the SCH-M580 after a cell swap

The SCH-M580's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell has a different impedance profile, so the IC misjudges how much capacity remains. Under the combined load of the modem and screen, the voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold faster than the gauge expects — the phone sees a sudden cliff and shuts down even though the percentage reads non-zero. One full uninterrupted discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter reference. After that cycle, shutdowns in the 20–30% range stop occurring.

Battery percentage jumping erratically in the first few days after replacement

Erratic percentage readings — jumping from 45% to 70% or dropping 15 points in a few minutes — are a fuel gauge IC recalibration symptom, not a faulty cell. The gauge is still mapping its internal model against the actual discharge curve of the new 1700mAh cell. Avoid partial charges during this period; each interrupted cycle extends the time it takes the IC to build an accurate curve. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles and the percentage display stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SCH-M580 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?

The BMS locks out the cell when voltage drops below approximately 2.5V from extended storage — this is a protection state, not permanent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger using the original cable and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button; the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release the lockout. If the screen shows a low-battery animation after that period, the cell is recovering — continue charging to 100% before first use.

The phone feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges after fitting this cell — is that normal?

A new high-impedance cell generates more heat during initial charge cycles than a broken-in one because the charge IC is pushing current into a cell with tighter internal resistance. On the SCH-M580, this is most noticeable during the first two or three charges and tapers off as the cell cycles in. Remove any case during these early charges to let heat dissipate, and keep the phone off a pillow or soft surface. If the back stays hot throughout a full charge after the third cycle, check that the charge contacts inside the battery bay are clean and making firm contact.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery — the phone just crawls through charging now?

The USB charging protocol handshake on the SCH-M580 sometimes defaults to standard 500mA USB current on the first cycle with a new BMS because the charge IC cannot confirm the cell's state of health yet. Discharge the battery down to the automatic shutdown point, then charge from zero using the original Sprint wall adapter — not a computer USB port. This gives the charge IC a full-cycle reference and re-enables the higher current path; fast charge behaviour returns from the second cycle onward.
