Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Coolpad 9960 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (CPLD-09)
This 3.7V, 2000mAh Li-Polymer cell is a direct replacement for the Coolpad 9960 smartphone. It fits the original battery bay and connects to the same flex connector and BMS interface as the factory cell. Capacity is rated at 7.4Wh, matching the OEM CPLD-09 specification.
- Coolpad 9960 fitment: The 9960 uses a single-cell Li-Polymer pack at 3.7V nominal, with a three-pin connector carrying charge, ground, and the thermistor signal. This cell replicates that pinout and physical footprint — 58.40 × 54.58 × 4.59mm — so it seats correctly without forcing the rear cover.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 9960 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without triggering a fault state, and the charge IC brought the pack to 4.2V cutoff within normal parameters on a standard cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated pack.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Coolpad 9960 after a cell swap
A new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different voltage-versus-capacity curve than the aged cell the fuel gauge IC was calibrated to. When the modem or display pulls a high-current burst, the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the reported state of charge still reads 25%. The phone interprets this as a critical shutdown event, not a calibration issue. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging resets the coulomb counter and aligns the fuel gauge to the new cell's actual curve.
OS percentage jumping erratically after replacement
The Coolpad 9960 stores learned charge data from the previous cell in the fuel gauge IC. After swapping to a new CPLD-09 cell, the IC continues referencing that stale data, which produces jumps — 60% to 45% in seconds, or a sudden leap from 10% to 30% on plug-in. This is a software-side calibration mismatch, not a faulty cell. Let the phone discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. Check that the percentage reads stable at 4.2V full charge before resuming normal use.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Coolpad 9960 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
Most likely the cell dropped below 2.5V during storage, triggering BMS lockout to prevent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC on the 9960 runs a trickle pre-charge recovery mode that slowly brings the cell voltage back above the BMS re-enable threshold of around 2.8V. If the charge LED lights up at any point, the cell is recovering — leave it on charge until the percentage reads at least 10% before attempting a boot.
Fast charging stopped working on the Coolpad 9960 right after I put in the new battery — the phone just charges slowly now.
On the first cycle with a new cell, the charge IC on the 9960 defaults to a conservative constant-current profile because it has no learned data for the new pack's impedance. This is expected behaviour — not a fault with the charger or the cell. Run one full slow charge to 100%, then discharge normally to around 15%, and plug back in. The charge IC recalibrates its current ramp on the second cycle and will re-enable the higher charge rate at that point.
The Coolpad 9960 gets noticeably warm near the back panel while charging the new battery — is something wrong?
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a conditioned cell, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat during the first few cycles. Warmth near the battery bay during charging is normal for the first three to five cycles on a fresh CPLD-09 cell. It should reduce noticeably once the cell has been cycled a few times and impedance drops toward its rated value. If the phone feels hot to the touch — not just warm — remove it from the charger and let it cool to room temperature before continuing.
