Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cricket Chorus / D930 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Cricket Chorus and D930 smartphones. It fits into the battery compartment and connects to the device's charge and power management circuitry. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly.
- Chorus and D930 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions (54.50 × 33.50 × 5.50mm), connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail. The BMS in each device will accept this cell without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the D930 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, charge termination triggered correctly at full voltage, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge without error flags after a full conditioning cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use, disable fast charging if your carrier plan or device settings allow it, then run one full discharge down to auto-shutoff followed by a complete charge. This lets the coulomb counter recalibrate against the new cell's actual discharge curve before the OS starts reporting percentages you can trust.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Chorus after a cell swap
New Li-ion cells have a slightly different voltage-versus-capacity curve than a broken-in original. When the Chorus modem fires up during a call or data burst, it pulls a short high-current spike. If the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell, it misreads the voltage sag as a dangerously low state-of-charge and triggers an emergency shutdown. This is not a faulty battery — it is the fuel gauge IC protecting the device against what it thinks is a voltage cliff. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted full charge corrects the calibration and stops the premature shutdowns.
Phone stays at 0% and won't power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells shipped or stored for extended periods can drop below 2.5V per cell. At that voltage, the BMS on the Chorus enters a lockout state and refuses to pass current to the device — the phone appears completely dead. Connect the phone to a wall charger (not a PC USB port, which may not deliver enough current) and leave it for 15–20 minutes without attempting to power it on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point normal charging resumes and the phone will boot.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Cricket Chorus keeps shutting off at around 25% charge after I put in the new battery — is something wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC in the Chorus is still calibrated to your old battery's discharge curve, so it misreads the voltage drop under modem load as a near-empty state and cuts power early. Run one full cycle — discharge the phone to auto-shutoff, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% — and the coulomb counter will recalibrate to the new cell. Shutdowns at 20–30% stop after that cycle is complete.
The battery percentage on my Chorus jumps around erratically right after installing this battery — it was at 60% then jumped to 40% in seconds.
The fuel gauge IC tracks capacity using a coulomb counter that was trained on your original cell's impedance and voltage curve. A new cell with different internal characteristics causes the counter to lose its reference point, producing erratic percentage jumps until it re-anchors. Let the phone run down to auto-shutoff naturally, then charge it fully without interruption. After one complete cycle the fuel gauge stabilises and percentage readings become consistent.
Fast charging stopped working on my Chorus after I installed the replacement battery — it only slow charges now.
The USB charging protocol handshake on the Chorus includes a BMS check on the first charge cycle after a new cell is connected. Some proprietary fast-charge controllers withhold high-current charging until they have confirmed cell impedance is within range, which takes one standard charge cycle to establish. Charge the phone once at standard speed using the original wall adapter. On the second and subsequent charges, fast charging should re-engage. If the adapter is a third-party unit, switch to the original Cricket charger first — mismatched voltage negotiation can permanently suppress fast-charge mode.
