CubCadet XR5 1000 / XR5 2000 — 18.5V Li-ion Replacement Battery (753-11203)

This is an 18.5V 6400mAh (118.4Wh) lithium-ion battery for the CubCadet XR5 1000, XR5 1000 2021, and XR5 2000 riding lawn mowers. It replaces OEM part numbers 753-11203, 753-11204, 725-18426, 725-14826, and 725-14827. The battery powers the blade motor, drive system, and onboard electronics across the XR5 platform.

• XR5 platform compatibility: The XR5 1000 and XR5 2000 share the same 18.5V battery architecture, connector housing, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both models because the voltage rail and communication signals are identical across the series.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge-discharge sequences and monitored BMS response under simulated blade-motor inrush loads. The protection circuit held cutoff thresholds consistent with OEM spec and resumed normal operation after cooldown without faulting.
• Seasonal storage tip: Before the first cut of the season, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current on startup can trip the BMS on a pack that hasn't warmed to room temperature.

The XR5 blade motor draws significantly more current cutting dense or wet grass than it does on a dry, short lawn. If current demand spikes past the BMS threshold — typically triggered by clumping or sudden resistance changes — the protection circuit cuts output to prevent cell damage. This isn't a battery fault; it's the BMS doing its job. Raise the cutting deck one notch and slow the drive speed in heavy sections to keep draw within the BMS window.

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly during storage. If the XR5 battery drops below approximately 2.5V per cell over a long winter, the charger's input-acceptance circuit won't recognise the pack as valid and shows a fault or red light instead of initiating a charge cycle. Some chargers include a recovery or "wake-up" mode — consult the charger manual for that sequence. If the charger has no recovery mode, the pack has discharged past the recoverable threshold and needs replacement.
