Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cutler Hammer PLC Memory Backup — 3V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (44A724534-001)
This is a 3V, 2000mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell that maintains SRAM program memory and RTC data in Cutler Hammer and compatible PLC systems during power interruptions. It cross-references multiple OEM part numbers including A98L-0031-0006, IC693ACC301, and A02B-0118-K111, covering a broad range of industrial controller platforms. Dimensions are 46.72 × 16.80 × 16.80mm — confirm physical fit against your existing cell before installation.
- Multi-platform cross-reference: This cell spans Cutler Hammer, Fanuc, and GE Fanuc controller lines because those platforms share the same 3V SRAM retention rail, BR-2/3A form factor, and passive connector pinout — no BMS handshake required, just stable voltage above the SRAM threshold.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell at 3.0V open-circuit and confirmed stable voltage delivery under low-drain SRAM hold conditions. The cell held within datasheet tolerance across the full test window with no voltage sag.
- Hot-swap protocol — mandatory for this cell: Always replace this battery with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the controller is powered off will cause SRAM to lose all stored program data immediately. If a cold swap has already occurred, a full program reload from a connected programming device is required before restarting the controller.
PLC losing program memory after battery swap
SRAM in these controllers has no capacitive hold — it relies on continuous voltage from the backup cell to retain data. The moment that voltage source is removed, memory is gone. If the old cell was pulled with the PLC powered down, the program is already lost regardless of how fast the new cell went in. Restore from your last verified program backup using the programming software, then confirm the new cell reads at least 2.8V on the PLC's diagnostics screen.
Battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation
These controllers do not auto-clear the low-battery fault flag when a new cell is installed — the alarm is latched in software and requires a manual reset. Navigate to the fault table or battery status register in your programming software and clear the flag explicitly. On GE Fanuc Series 90 platforms, this is done through the Logicmaster or Proficy ME fault reset function. After clearing, confirm the status bit shows no active fault before closing the session.

Frequently Asked Questions
The new cell shows under 3V on my PLC's battery monitor — is it dead already?
No — Li-MnO2 cells ship at storage voltage, which can read as low as 2.7V out of the box. Once installed, the PLC's float charge circuit brings the reading up to rated voltage within a few hours of normal operation. Check the monitor again after the controller has been running for half a day. If the reading is still below 2.8V after 24 hours, reseat the cell and verify connector contact.
My PLC clock shows the wrong date and time after I replaced the battery — what happened?
The RTC lost its reference during the swap, either because the cell was removed with power off or there was a brief gap in voltage during hot-swap. The clock data is held separately from program SRAM and must be reset manually. Open your programming software, navigate to the controller's date/time settings, and set the correct values — the controller will not sync this automatically.
The battery is draining much faster than the rated service life between maintenance cycles — what causes that?
Enclosure temperature is the primary factor. Li-MnO2 self-discharge approximately doubles for every 10°C rise above 25°C, so a panel running at 45°C will cut effective cell life nearly in half. Check the ambient temperature inside the control cabinet with a contact thermometer. If it consistently exceeds 40°C, increase ventilation or move to a shorter replacement interval — 12 months instead of 24.
