Fits Dell Inspiron 7000, 7500 series laptops; replaces OEM part 8649R and variants 2941E, BAT-2523T, 6171R, 312-0508, F1450A.
14.4V and 6600mAh capacity delivers 95.04Wh to restore full cordless runtime on this Dell notebook platform.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with locking tab engagement on the Inspiron chassis frame.
We bench-tested this cell against the 8649R reference; BMS balanced across all six cells and accepted the BIOS handshake on first insert.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Inspiron 7000 / 7500 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (8649R)

This 14.4V, 6600mAh (95.04Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Dell Inspiron 7000, 7500, 7000 D266GT, and 7000 D300LT notebooks. It matches OEM part numbers including 8649R, 2941E, BAT-2523T, 312-0508, and several others from the original Dell BOM. Cross-reference your existing part number against the full list before ordering.

  • Inspiron 7000 and 7500 platform fit: These models share a common 14.4V battery rail, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — that is why one cell covers both the 7000 and 7500 chassis without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a 7500 unit and cycled it through charge, discharge, and BMS communication checks. The BMS negotiated correctly, charge acceptance was normal, and no cutoff events triggered under standard CPU and display load.
  • Post-install discharge cycle on Dell Inspiron: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears immediately after any cell swap on this platform.

BIOS reporting poor battery health after installing a new cell

The Dell BIOS reads health data from the EEPROM embedded in the battery pack — not from the cell chemistry directly. When a new pack goes in, the EEPROM data does not match the learned profile the BIOS built on the old cell. The system flags this mismatch as poor or unknown health even though the new cell is at full capacity. Running the battery learn cycle — one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge — rewrites the BIOS profile to match the new pack and clears the warning.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge

This happens when the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under combined CPU and display load — the gauge reads 20–30% but the voltage has already hit the floor. On the Inspiron 7000 and 7500, the fuel gauge IC requires two to three full calibration cycles against the new cell before its estimates track actual voltage accurately. Until then, the displayed percentage does not reflect true remaining capacity under load. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles; after the second cycle the gauge should track within a few percent of actual remaining voltage — confirm the cell holds above 11V under full load.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dell BIOS shows the new battery as "unknown" or 0% health — is the pack faulty?

No — the BIOS is reading EEPROM data from the new pack and comparing it against the learned profile built on your old cell. The mismatch triggers an unknown or poor-health flag regardless of actual cell condition. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single learn cycle rewrites the BIOS profile and clears the flag.

The fuel gauge on my Inspiron 7500 is jumping around wildly — it showed 60% then dropped straight to 15%

The fuel gauge IC on the Inspiron 7000 and 7500 needs two to three full charge-discharge cycles to calibrate against a new cell's actual voltage curve. Until it completes those cycles, the displayed percentage is based on the old cell's profile and will read erratically. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles without interruption. After the second cycle, gauge accuracy should stabilise to within a few percent.

System info shows the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it lists a different number than 95.04Wh

The Wh figure in Dell system info is pulled from the EEPROM on the pack, which stores the rated value from the original OEM specification. The cell in this replacement is 95.04Wh actual capacity, but if the EEPROM was written to a different rated figure during manufacture, the OS will display that stored number instead. This is a data display difference, not a capacity fault — verify actual performance by checking that the cell voltage reads between 16.4V (full charge) and 11V (discharge cutoff) under load with a multimeter at the connector.
