Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Deviser DS2002 / DS2002H — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (30254)
This 3.6V 2500mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the OEM 30254 pack in the Deviser DS2002 and DS2002H digital theodolite and total station. It powers the instrument's electronic angle measurement, display, and data recording functions. Capacity is 2500mAh (9Wh), matching the original specification.
- DS2002 and DS2002H fit: Both models use the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH platform, share the same physical pack dimensions (50.50 × 50.30 × 17.25mm), and accept the same connector and BMS handshake — one battery covers both variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through instrument power-up, angle measurement, and data logging sequences. The BMS held stable voltage through sensor initialisation spikes and did not trip during sustained electronic load.
- Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration cycle through the DS2002 instrument menu before field deployment. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during the first measurement session, even with a fully charged pack.
BMS lockout after the DS2002 sat unused in a carry case for months
Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. A DS2002 left in a case for three or more months can drop the pack below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.8–3.0V for a 3.6V cell. When this happens, the instrument either shows no battery indicator or fails to power on entirely, even after placing it on the charger. To recover, connect the pack to the OEM charger and leave it for a full charge cycle without interrupting — most BMS controllers re-initialise once the cell voltage climbs back above the recovery threshold.
DS2002 readings resetting or drifting mid-logging session
This is not a measurement error — it is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor load. When a degraded or partially charged Ni-MH pack cannot maintain voltage during continuous angle sampling and data recording, the processor briefly resets, clearing the active measurement buffer. The display may return to a home screen or show a corrupted last reading. Check resting voltage before field use — a healthy 3.6V Ni-MH cell should read 1.35–1.40V per cell at rest after a full charge; if the pack reads below 3.9V immediately off the charger, replace it.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DS2002 powers on fine but shuts itself off the moment I start a USB data transfer to the PC — why?
USB data transfer adds a secondary current draw on top of the instrument's active measurement and display load. A Ni-MH pack that is ageing or only partially charged cannot sustain the combined draw, and the BMS cuts output to protect the cell. This is not a firmware fault — it is a capacity problem. Charge the battery fully before any PC transfer session and confirm the pack reads at least 3.9V immediately after the charger light goes green.
The DS2002 shows a full battery indicator after I charged the new pack overnight, but triggers a low-battery warning after just a few angle measurements — what is happening?
The DS2002 maps battery state during its calibration routine and uses that reference to set warning thresholds. If you skipped the calibration cycle after fitting the new pack, the instrument is comparing the new cell's voltage curve against the old, depleted cell's profile — and flagging it as low too early. Go into the instrument menu, run a full calibration cycle with the new battery installed, and the warning threshold resets to match the new cell's actual voltage behaviour.
My DS2002 battery will not charge at all after the instrument spent the off-season stored in a transit case — the charger light never comes on properly.
Extended storage at a discharged state drops Ni-MH cells below the BMS recovery voltage, typically under 3.0V for this pack. At that level, most chargers will not begin a standard charge cycle because they cannot confirm a live cell. Connect the pack to the OEM charger and hold it there for at least 30–45 minutes without interrupting — the charger applies a low-current recovery pulse first, and interrupting it resets the process. If the charger still shows no activity after one hour, measure the pack voltage directly at the terminals; below 2.5V indicates a cell that will not recover.
