Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dolphin 6000LU1 / 6500 / 6110 / 6100 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP06-00028A)
This is a 3.7V 3300mAh Li-ion battery for the Dolphin 6000LU1, 6500, 6110, and 6100 handheld barcode scanners. These scanners run in retail stockrooms, distribution centres, and logistics operations where continuous uptime matters. The battery slots into the same bay as the original pack and connects to the same BMS contact points.
- 6000LU1, 6500, 6110, and 6100 compatibility: All four models share the same battery bay geometry and 3.7V single-cell architecture. The BMS on each device uses the same protection thresholds, so one pack covers the entire line without any firmware or connector mismatch.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the 6000LU1 and monitored BMS handshake across both cradle charging and USB. The protection circuit responded correctly to overcharge cutoff and low-voltage lockout at each test point.
- First-shift cradle protocol: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before putting it into pick-and-pack rotation. The scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips during the first shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The Dolphin cradle reads battery state through gold contact pins on the base of the scanner. If those pins carry oxidation or debris from a previous battery, the dock registers a contact resistance fault and throws a charging error — even on a brand-new pack. Wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. The charge indicator should switch to active within 30 seconds. If it doesn't, check that the cradle is drawing power and repeat the reseat.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The Dolphin 6000 series fires its radio and its scan engine simultaneously during a fast barcode burst. That combined draw — radio polling plus imager trigger — creates a short current spike that an aged or partially charged battery can't sustain cleanly. The voltage sags below the radio's minimum operating threshold and the wireless link drops. This does not mean the battery is faulty; it means the cell needs to be at or near full charge before a high-frequency scanning session. Charge the pack to 4.2V before any shift that involves continuous scanning.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Dolphin 6000LU1 stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?
The scan engine needs a minimum voltage to fire the imager reliably, and a freshly installed battery that hasn't been charged yet may sit too low to sustain it. The scanner powers on but the imager draw pulls voltage below the read threshold. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge fully before scanning. Once the pack reaches 4.2V, the imager will fire at full power and reads will resume normally.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is the battery causing that?
In an enclosed housing like the Dolphin 6000 series, the combined heat from sustained wireless polling and continuous scan triggers has nowhere to go quickly. The battery itself contributes some warmth under load, but the housing retains it. This is normal during extended high-frequency shifts. If the unit becomes too hot to hold comfortably, give it a 10-minute rest in the cradle — the charge circuit will throttle input current and the temperature will drop.
This new battery doesn't seem to last as long through a shift as the original did — why?
Shift endurance depends heavily on scan burst frequency and how often the radio polls the network, not just raw capacity. If wireless polling is set to a short interval or the scanner is scanning dense barcodes continuously, the combined draw is significantly higher than light intermittent use. Check the wireless polling interval in the device settings and reduce it if the network allows. A polling interval above 500ms noticeably reduces current draw between scan events.
