Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HandHeld Dolphin 6100 / 6110 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP06-00028A)
This 3.7V, 3300mAh lithium-ion pack replaces the OEM battery in the HandHeld Dolphin 6100 and Dolphin 6110 mobile computers. Both terminals use the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, so one SKU covers both models. Voltage and capacity match the original BP06-00028A specification exactly.
- Dolphin 6100 and 6110 compatibility: Both units share the same chassis depth, locking tab geometry, and three-pin battery interface. The BMS on each model communicates over the same SMBus lines, so the pack authenticates without any firmware workaround or device reset.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a Dolphin 6100 unit. The BMS held the charge curve within 2% of the rated 12.21Wh, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold — no false cutoffs under simulated scan-burst load.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. The scan trigger draws its highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum charge — starting from a full cell prevents a false BMS low-voltage trip during the first hour of use.
Cradle showing a charging error on a freshly installed pack
New packs sometimes arrive with surface oxidation on the gold-plated contact pads. That thin layer raises contact resistance enough for the Dolphin cradle's charge controller to flag a fault instead of starting a charge cycle. Wipe the five contacts on the battery face and the matching cradle pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until the locking tabs click. If the error clears within 30 seconds, contact resistance was the cause — not a faulty pack or cradle.
Scanner losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst
On the Dolphin 6100, the 802.11b/g radio and the scan trigger both draw current at the same moment during a rapid barcode burst. If the cell voltage sags below roughly 3.4V under that combined load, the radio module drops its association before the imager completes the decode. This shows up as missed scans followed by a reconnect delay — not a scanner fault or access-point issue. Keeping the battery above 20% charge before a high-throughput shift eliminates the sag event that triggers the drop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Dolphin 6100 won't read barcodes at all after I swapped the battery — imager light comes on but nothing decodes
The imager needs a minimum voltage headroom to drive the illumination LED at full intensity. If the new pack shipped partially discharged, the cell may be too low to sustain that draw even though the scanner appears to power on normally. Seat the unit in the cradle, let it charge until the indicator shows full, then retry scanning. A full cell resolves this in virtually every case where the imager activates but fails to decode.
The scanner runs noticeably warm after a long shift — is the battery causing it?
Heat during extended shifts on the Dolphin 6100 comes from two sustained draws running together: the wireless radio polling the access point every few hundred milliseconds and the imager firing repeatedly. The battery housing sits directly against the main board, so that combined load transfers heat into the grip. This is normal operating behaviour, not a sign of a faulty cell. If surface temperature feels excessive rather than just warm, check that the cradle is completing full charge cycles — a cell that never reaches 4.15–4.20V per cell works harder and runs hotter under load.
Shift endurance dropped significantly compared to the original battery — new pack but short on capacity
Shallow-cycle degradation in the old OEM pack can reset your expectations — a worn battery that shows "full" may have been delivering only 60–70% of rated capacity for months. The replacement pack at 3300mAh may actually last longer than what you had recently, but feel shorter than what you remember from when the original was new. To confirm the new pack is performing correctly, run it from a full charge to automatic shutoff across a normal shift and note the scan volume completed. If endurance still falls short after two full break-in cycles, check wireless polling interval in the terminal settings — aggressive roaming scans reduce endurance independent of battery condition.
