Fits Dolphin 6500EP barcode scanner, replaces OEM part number PR-042025.
3.7V 140mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers sustained power for wireless scanning and inventory transactions throughout warehouse shifts.
Connector slides into the scanner battery bay with positive contact alignment — ensure contacts are clean and dry before insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in a 6500EP dock charger; the BMS accepted charge current without fault codes and held stable voltage under simulated scan-trigger load pulses.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack operations — scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell approaches minimum voltage and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dolphin 6500EP — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PR-042025)

This 3.7V 140mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the PR-042025 pack in the Dolphin 6500EP handheld barcode scanner. The 6500EP is used in retail, warehouse, and logistics environments for inventory scanning and point-of-sale transactions. At 26.90 × 20.20 × 4.50mm, this cell matches the original form factor exactly.

  • 6500EP platform fit: The 6500EP uses a compact Li-Polymer cell because the housing leaves no room for a cylindrical pack. Voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake all match the OEM PR-042025 specification — the scanner's firmware accepts the pack without a recalibration prompt.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through scan-trigger inrush and wireless polling loads simultaneously. The BMS held the rail steady and did not trip under combined draw. Cell voltage at rest settled at 3.72V after a full charge cycle.
  • First-install charge cycle: After fitting the new pack, place the 6500EP in its cradle and run a complete charge cycle before the first shift. Scan-trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips when the first pick-and-pack shift starts.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new PR-042025 pack

A charging error on a fresh pack almost always comes down to dock contact resistance, not a fault with the battery itself. The 6500EP cradle uses spring-loaded gold contacts that accumulate oxidation and debris over time. When resistance on those contacts rises, the cradle's charge controller sees an abnormal voltage drop and flags an error. Wipe the pack contacts and the cradle contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the error clears in most cases.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During a fast scan sequence, the 6500EP draws current from two sources at once — the imager firing and the wireless radio polling the host system. On a degraded or under-charged cell, that combined inrush pulls the voltage rail below the radio module's minimum operating threshold. The radio drops, the scanner pauses, and the operator loses the connection mid-batch. Charge the pack fully before the shift and confirm resting voltage is at or above 3.7V before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 6500EP isn't reading barcodes after I swapped the battery — the scanner powers on but the laser won't fire consistently. What's wrong?

The imager or laser in the 6500EP needs the voltage rail to stay above a minimum threshold to fire reliably. If the replacement pack shipped partially discharged, the cell voltage may be too low to sustain the trigger draw — even though the scanner appears to power on. Put the unit in its cradle and run a full charge cycle first. After charging, resting voltage should read at or above 3.7V before you attempt any scanning.

The 6500EP gets noticeably warm after a long warehouse shift — is that normal with this battery?

Some warmth is expected. The 6500EP combines sustained scan-trigger current and continuous wireless polling inside a compact sealed housing with very little airflow. Heat builds up because there is nowhere for it to dissipate quickly. If the housing becomes hot rather than warm, check that the scan burst frequency hasn't increased — higher scan rates push average current draw up sharply. Reduce continuous scan sequences where possible and allow the unit a short idle period between heavy pick-and-pack runs.

This battery seems to drain faster than the original did when it was new — is the 140mAh capacity correct?

Yes, 140mAh is the correct capacity for the PR-042025 and matches the OEM specification. Perceived short endurance on a new pack usually means the cell shipped at a storage charge level and hasn't completed its first full cycle yet. Run two complete charge-and-use cycles through the cradle — capacity stabilises after the first couple of cycles as the Li-Polymer cell reaches its rated electrochemical balance. If endurance is still short after two cycles, check wireless polling interval in the scanner's configuration, as aggressive polling is the single largest current draw on the 6500EP platform.
