Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dolphin 7850 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (200-00059-6)
This 7.4V, 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces OEM part 200-00059-6 in the Dolphin 7850 handheld mobile computer. The 7850 is a rugged barcode scanner used in retail, warehouse, and logistics environments for scanning and data collection across full shifts. Swap this pack when the original no longer holds enough charge to complete a pick run or receiving window.
- 7850 platform fit: The 7850 uses a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion configuration with a specific BMS handshake through the contact pins. This pack matches that voltage rail and connector footprint so the device powers on and reports state-of-charge correctly through the host UI.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger and wireless polling loads — the combined inrush that stresses the BMS most on scanner hardware. The protection circuit held stable across charge and discharge cycles without false cutoffs.
- First-shift preparation: After installing the pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before pulling it for active use. Scan-trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum voltage, and a pre-charged pack prevents the BMS from tripping on the first burst of the shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Charging errors on first insertion are almost always a contact resistance issue, not a fault with the battery or dock electronics. The cradle reads pack voltage through the contact pins — if those pins are oxidised or debris-coated, the dock sees an out-of-range reading and throws an error. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the pack firmly. If the error clears, the pack is charging normally.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The 7850 draws from the battery simultaneously for the imager and the wireless radio. During a fast scan burst, that combined inrush can sag the cell voltage momentarily, causing the radio to drop its connection before recovering. This is more likely on a partially depleted pack. Keep the battery above 20% charge during high-frequency scanning sessions — most 7850 units display state-of-charge in the status bar, and that threshold gives the cell enough headroom to handle both loads without voltage sag.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Dolphin 7850 isn't reading barcodes after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The imager needs a minimum supply voltage to fire at full power, and a new pack that hasn't been fully charged yet can sit just below that threshold. Seat the scanner in its cradle, run a complete charge cycle, then retry. If the imager still fails to read after a full charge, check that the battery contacts are seated flush — a slightly misaligned pack can cause intermittent voltage drops that cut imager power mid-scan.
My 7850 runs out of charge before the shift ends, but the new battery should have the same capacity as the old one — why is this happening?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling together draw significantly more current than either load alone, so a busy pick shift will deplete a 1800mAh pack faster than a light-duty one. If the polling interval on your 7850 is set aggressively short, the radio is transmitting almost continuously — that alone can account for noticeably shorter endurance compared to a quieter workflow. Check your network configuration and, if possible, increase the polling interval to reduce background radio draw.
The 7850 feels warm after a long shift on the new battery — is that normal?
Sustained imager firing plus continuous wireless traffic in the 7850's enclosed housing generates heat that has nowhere to go. A warm pack after a full shift is normal given that load profile. What to watch for is heat concentrated at the battery contacts or a pack that is hot to the touch immediately after removal — that points to elevated internal resistance. Let the pack cool to ambient before recharging, and check that the cradle contacts are clean so charging current flows evenly.
