Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra TC51 / TC56 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-000314-01)
This 3.7V 4200mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the OEM pack on the Zebra TC51, TC510, TC56, and TC510K mobile computers. It fits the full TC51 and TC56 family used in warehouse, retail, and logistics environments. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec: 3.7V, 4200mAh (15.54Wh).
- TC51 and TC56 platform fitment: Both the TC51 and TC56 share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers both devices without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a TC51 and TC56 unit. The BMS completed its handshake with the device OS on first insertion, charge acceptance registered correctly in the battery status menu, and scan trigger draws produced no spurious low-battery alerts.
- First-shift preparation on the TC51: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when cell charge is near minimum — starting a shift on a fully charged pack prevents the BMS from tripping on that first-burst demand spike.
Cradle charging error on a new TC51 pack
Zebra TC51 cradles communicate with the battery's BMS through the dock contacts before accepting a charge cycle. If those contacts have oxidation or debris from a previous pack, the handshake fails and the cradle throws a charging error — even with a new battery. This is a contact resistance issue, not a pack fault. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle dock pins with a dry cloth, reseat the pack firmly, and the cradle should begin charging within 30 seconds.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During high-frequency scanning, the TC51 draws simultaneously from the imager and the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth radio. That combined inrush can cause a momentary voltage sag on an aged or partially charged cell, which the device interprets as a power event and drops the wireless connection to protect the OS. The fix is to ensure the replacement pack is fully charged before a burst-scanning shift — a full cell holds voltage under combined load far better than one sitting at 40–50%. If dropouts continue on a fresh charge, check that the battery firmware version reported in the TC51 settings menu matches what Zebra's StageNow expects for your MDM profile.

Frequently Asked Questions
My TC51 stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — is the scanner broken?
The imager on the TC51 requires a minimum voltage threshold to fire correctly, and a new pack that hasn't been fully charged can dip below that threshold under the trigger inrush load. The scanner isn't broken — it's the cell starting too low. Place the device in its cradle, charge to 100%, then test the scan trigger again. Reads should resume normally once the cell is at full charge.
The charging cradle shows an error light when I dock the new battery — what's causing it?
Zebra cradles run a BMS handshake through the dock contacts before starting a charge cycle. Dirty or corroded contacts on either the battery or the cradle pins break that handshake and trigger the error light. Remove the battery, wipe all metal contacts on the pack and inside the cradle with a dry, lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly. The cradle should clear the error and begin charging within about 30 seconds.
The TC51 feels noticeably warm after a full warehouse shift — is that normal with this battery?
Sustained scanning combined with continuous Wi-Fi polling generates steady draw across both the imager and the radio, and the TC51's compact housing has limited airflow to dissipate that heat. Warmth after an extended shift is normal within Zebra's rated operating range. If the device is hot to the point of discomfort or shuts itself down, check whether the scanner is running in a high-ambient-temperature environment — Zebra specifies a maximum operating temperature of 50°C, and sustained use near that ceiling will trigger a thermal protection shutdown regardless of battery condition.
