Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HandHeld Dolphin 7850 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (200-00059-6)
This 7.4V, 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Honeywell Dolphin 7850 mobile computer. It fits the Dolphin 7850 handheld barcode scanner used in retail, warehouse, and field service environments. Voltage and cell count match the original spec exactly.
- Dolphin 7850 platform fit: The 7850 runs a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion rail with a proprietary BMS handshake at the dock connector. This pack matches that voltage rail and connector pinout, so the device firmware recognises the battery and reports charge state correctly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge, full discharge, and re-charge on a Dolphin 7850 unit. The BMS negotiated cleanly on every cycle — no false low-battery flags, no mid-session cutoffs during scan trigger pulls.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a complete charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. The scan trigger draws inrush current that is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged pack prevents a false BMS trip on the first scan burst of the shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The Dolphin 7850 cradle checks contact resistance at the battery terminals before starting a charge cycle. If the dock throws a charge error on a fresh pack, the most likely cause is surface oxidation or debris on the gold contacts — not a faulty battery. Remove the pack, wipe the terminals with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat firmly, and check that the cradle LED cycles to amber within 10 seconds. If the error persists, clean the cradle contacts with isopropyl alcohol and allow them to dry completely before reseating.
Scanner losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst
On the Dolphin 7850, the wireless radio and the scan imager share the same battery rail. During a rapid scan burst, combined inrush from the imager and the 802.11 radio can pull the cell voltage down briefly, triggering the BMS undercurrent threshold and dropping the wireless association. This is more common when the battery is below 20% charge. Keep the pack above 30% during high-frequency scan sessions — the voltage sag at 3.5V per cell under combined load is enough to cause the drop-out.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Dolphin 7850 stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The Dolphin 7850 imager needs a minimum voltage on the rail to fire the illumination LED and image sensor. A new pack shipped at partial charge can sit below that threshold if it was in storage for several months. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before use — once the pack reaches 4.1–4.2V per cell, the imager will fire normally on the next scan trigger press.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is that a battery issue?
Sustained combined draw from the imager, wireless radio, and display in the Dolphin 7850's enclosed housing generates heat that concentrates around the battery compartment. Some warmth is normal, but if the pack is hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the scan application isn't polling the imager continuously in the background — that keeps the illumination circuit live and raises the average current draw significantly. A pack that is genuinely overheating will trip the BMS thermal cutoff; let it cool to room temperature and reseat it before recharging.
The new battery doesn't last as long through a shift as the old one seemed to — but the old one was degraded. What should I check?
A new 1800mAh pack at partial charge can feel similar to a degraded pack until it completes two or three full charge cycles. Run the pack down to the device's low-battery warning, then charge it fully in the cradle three times before judging shift endurance. Also check wireless channel settings — the Dolphin 7850 scanning at high 802.11 polling rates draws significantly more current than one on a quieter channel, and that alone can cut usable time per charge well below what the cell capacity would otherwise support.
