Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Doro PhoneEasy 410 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SHELL01A)

This is a 3.7V Li-ion 800mAh (2.96Wh) replacement battery for the Doro PhoneEasy 410, PhoneEasy 410GSM, PhoneEasy 610, and PhoneEasy 409, among other models in the range. It fits the clamshell form factor these phones share and matches the OEM cell footprint at 49.93 x 40.00 x 5.60mm. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or fails to power the phone at all.

  • PhoneEasy 410, 410GSM, 610, 409 and related models: These phones share the same clamshell housing, battery bay dimensions, and connector pinout. The 3.7V nominal voltage rail is consistent across the range, so one cell covers all of them without a BMS handshake conflict.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the PhoneEasy platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without tripping a lockout, charge current ramped correctly from CC to CV phase, and cut off cleanly at full capacity.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After fitting this cell, run the phone down to auto-shutdown, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The PhoneEasy fuel gauge IC calibrates against the discharge curve of the cell it sees — skipping this step leaves it reading against the old degraded curve, which causes inaccurate percentage readings from day one.

Why the PhoneEasy 410 reports the wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on these phones uses a stored discharge curve to estimate remaining capacity. That curve was built around the original cell over months of use. A fresh 800mAh cell has a different internal resistance profile, so the IC reads the new voltage-versus-charge relationship as the old one — and gets it wrong. You will see jumpy percentages or a reading that stays stuck near 80% before dropping fast. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete uninterrupted charge resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. Under the load of an active call, the cell voltage drops sharply — and if the fuel gauge IC is still miscalibrated, the phone hits its low-voltage cutoff while the percentage display still shows 20–30%. The cutoff threshold on the PhoneEasy platform sits around 3.2V under load. Run the full recalibration cycle first. If shutdowns continue after that, check the battery contacts in the bay for oxidation — a resistive connection amplifies the voltage sag and triggers the cutoff earlier than it should.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Doro PhoneEasy 410 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?

Probably not. Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if this one dropped below 2.5V the BMS will have locked it out to prevent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it climbs back above the BMS recovery threshold, at which point the phone will boot normally. If there is no charging indicator after an hour, check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and making firm contact.

The percentage on my PhoneEasy 410 jumps around — it reads 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within minutes of each other.

The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against an unfamiliar cell. It was tuned to the discharge curve of the original battery, and the new cell's voltage-versus-charge profile is different enough that the counter loses track under fluctuating load. Run the phone down completely until it shuts itself off, then charge it in one uninterrupted session to 100% — do not unplug early. That single cycle gives the IC enough data to rebuild its curve for the new cell, and the jumping should stop.

The PhoneEasy 410 feels noticeably warm near the battery compartment while charging — is that a fault with the replacement cell?

Warmth during early charging cycles on a new cell is normal and expected. A fresh high-impedance cell draws charge current differently than a broken-in one, and the charge IC has to work harder to push current in at the correct CC rate. That generates heat at the cell surface. It should be warm, not hot — if you cannot hold your hand against the back of the phone comfortably, that is outside normal range. Check that nothing is blocking ventilation around the phone while it charges, and avoid charging it on a soft surface like a bed or cushion for the first few cycles.
