Fits Sharp Galapagos 003SH and replaces OEM battery part numbers SHBDL1 and EA-BL28.
3.7V at 1200mAh means this cell delivers enough current for the phone's modem and screen without the voltage sag that kills older packs mid-call.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single plastic locking tab on the left side — no forced insertion needed.
We cycled this cell through full discharge and recharge on the 003SH platform; the BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion with no fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sharp Galapagos 003SH — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SHBDL1)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Sharp Galapagos 003SH smartphone. It also fits the DM009SH and SH8158 variants. The OEM part numbers are SHBDL1 and EA-BL28.

  • Galapagos 003SH and variant compatibility: The 003SH, DM009SH, and SH8158 all share the same 3.7V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits the full group because Sharp used a common battery platform across this hardware generation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 003SH platform. The BMS accepted the cell without triggering fault flags, and the charge IC completed a full constant-current/constant-voltage cycle to 4.2V with no thermal events.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC on the 003SH is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. One full cycle lets it re-map against the new cell before drawing high current into an uncalibrated state.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Galapagos 003SH after a cell swap

The 003SH's modem and display draw a short burst of current that can pull the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold, even when the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. A fresh cell with a slightly different internal resistance curve will hit that voltage cliff at a different state-of-charge than the fuel gauge expects. This causes abrupt shutdowns that look like a defective battery but are actually a calibration mismatch. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the fuel gauge IC will track the new cell's curve accurately.

OS reporting an incorrect battery percentage after replacement

The coulomb counter in the 003SH retains learned data from the old cell and applies it to the new one immediately on boot. Because the new cell's capacity and discharge curve differ from the worn cell, the percentage reading drifts — often reading 100% too quickly or dropping steeply in the lower range. This is a fuel gauge IC recalibration issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. Drain the phone fully until it shuts down, then charge uninterrupted to 100% to force a fresh calibration pass.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 003SH powers on but shuts off the moment the screen and modem are both active — is the replacement cell faulty?

This is a voltage sag issue, not a defective cell. When the modem radio and display draw simultaneously, the instantaneous current demand pulls cell voltage below the BMS cutoff, even if the gauge shows charge remaining. It is most common on the first few cycles before the fuel gauge IC has mapped the new cell's discharge curve. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the shutdowns will stop as the gauge recalibrates.

The phone is noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first charge with the new cell — is that normal?

A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher impedance than a well-cycled one, which causes the charge IC to dissipate more heat during the constant-current phase. On the 003SH this is normal for the first one or two charge cycles and resolves as the cell forms. If the warmth continues past three full charges or the phone becomes hot to the touch, check that the charge port and cable are delivering clean 5V — a dirty connector causes the charge IC to work harder and generates sustained heat.

After the 003SH sat unused in a drawer for months with the replacement battery installed, it will not power on at all — what happened?

Extended storage drained the cell below 2.5V, triggering BMS lockout to prevent damage. The phone will not respond to a normal press of the power button in this state. Connect it to a charger and leave it untouched for at least 20 minutes — the BMS recovery circuit trickle-charges the cell until voltage climbs above the re-enable threshold, after which the phone will boot normally. If there is still no response after 30 minutes, try a different charging cable before assuming cell failure.
