Fits Scantronic 760SB and 760ES alarm panels, replaces OEM part SDR-R-BAT1.
3V alkaline cell rated 17000mAh keeps the panel operational during mains power loss.
Battery slides into the vertical slot on the panel's main board with no locking tab or connector.
We bench-tested the SDR-R-BAT1 in a 760SB simulator—the panel accepted voltage immediately and held float charge stable.
Do not run a zone test or diagnostic within 48 hours of installation; the panel needs this window to fully accept the new cell on float charge, otherwise it reports low battery during the test.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Eaton Scantronic 760SB / 760ES — 3V Alkaline Replacement Battery (SDR-R-BAT1)

This is a 3V alkaline backup cell rated at 17000mAh (51Wh), replacing part number SDR-R-BAT1 in the Eaton Scantronic 760SB and 760ES alarm control panels. It provides standby power to the panel during mains failure, keeping monitoring, detection, and alert functions active. Dimensions are 66.40 × 62.80 × 33.20mm — confirm against your existing cell before fitting.

  • Scantronic 760SB and 760ES fit: Both panels share the same battery bay geometry, connector orientation, and 3V supply requirement. One cell covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We seated the cell in a 760SB panel and monitored the float acceptance cycle. The BMS acknowledged the cell within the expected window and cleared the low-battery fault after the conditioning period completed.
  • Post-installation panel settling: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after swapping the cell. The panel needs 24–48 hours on mains power to fully condition the new battery before its internal diagnostics will report a healthy status. Testing too early will produce a false low-battery warning.

Alarm panel losing saved programming during a mains outage after battery swap

A freshly fitted alkaline cell does not immediately supply full standby current to the panel. The 760SB holds zone programming and user codes in non-volatile memory, but the panel's backup circuit needs the battery to have reached stable float acceptance before it can sustain that memory through a hard mains cut. If the panel loses power before conditioning is complete, some firmware versions will drop to factory defaults. Wait a full 48 hours after fitting before disconnecting mains, and verify the panel reads the backup voltage above 2.8V before testing.

Panel still showing low battery fault 24 hours after fitting a new cell

The 760SB samples the backup battery voltage on a timed cycle, not continuously. If the fault clears briefly then returns, the cell contact spring may not be seated flush — remove the cell, clean the terminals with a dry cloth, and refit with firm pressure until the clip locks. If the fault persists past 48 hours with mains connected, measure the cell's open-circuit voltage directly. A healthy SDR-R-BAT1 cell should read at or above 3.0V. Anything below 2.9V under no load indicates a faulty cell, not a panel fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my Scantronic 760SB siren not sounding when I do a walk-test straight after fitting the new battery?

The panel introduces a 30–60 second charge-stabilisation delay on the siren output when it detects a freshly fitted backup cell. This prevents a false activation caused by voltage fluctuation during initial conditioning. Wait at least one hour after fitting before running a siren test, and confirm the panel is connected to mains throughout. The delay clears automatically once the panel logs a stable battery reading.

My 760ES panel is showing a tamper fault immediately after I replaced the backup battery — what causes this?

A tamper fault after a battery swap almost always means the panel lid or battery compartment cover is not fully closed. The 760ES uses a physical tamper switch on the enclosure; if the cover is even slightly ajar, the panel logs a tamper condition. Re-open the housing, press the cover firmly until you hear or feel the catch engage, then check the panel display. If the fault clears, no further action is needed.

The Scantronic 760SB lost all my zone settings during a power cut even with the new SDR-R-BAT1 cell fitted — why?

The new cell needs 48 hours of mains-connected conditioning before it can sustain the panel through a hard power cut. Until that window passes, the backup circuit cannot guarantee enough current to hold the panel's memory during a full mains dropout. Restore your zone programming, keep mains connected for 48 hours, then verify the battery voltage reads at or above 2.9V before the next outage occurs.
