Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Elson EL400 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTY26170)
This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell for the Elson EL400 and Mobistel EL400 smartphone. It replaces OEM part BTY26170 and BTY26170/STD directly. Fit the cell when the original no longer holds a usable charge or fails to power the phone at all.
- EL400 and Mobistel EL400 compatibility: Both variants share the same physical housing, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — a single cell covers both. The 66.00 × 43.50 × 5.00mm footprint matches the factory battery bay without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the EL400 platform. The BMS communicated charge state correctly to the phone's fuel gauge IC, and the protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage threshold without requiring a manual reset.
- First-cycle fuel gauge reset: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before any high-current charging session begins — skipping this step is why percentage readings jump around in the first day.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the EL400 after a cell swap
The EL400's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the stored curve no longer matches actual cell voltage under load. The modem or display draws a spike of current, voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold faster than the gauge expects, and the phone shuts off while still showing 20–30%. One full discharge-charge cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter and eliminates the early cutoff on most units.
Phone won't power on after sitting in storage — BMS lockout on deep discharge
If the EL400 or a stored replacement cell has sat unused for several months, the cell voltage may have dropped below 2.5V — the threshold at which the BMS locks out to prevent damage to the lithium cells. The phone will show nothing when you press the power button, and a standard charger may not push enough trickle current to wake the BMS. Connect the phone via USB to a wall adapter — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on; the charge IC needs a sustained low-current input to pull the cell back above the 3.0V recovery threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Elson EL400 shuts off at around 25% battery — is the new cell faulty?
Not faulty — the fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it learned from the old cell. When the new cell's voltage drops faster than the stored curve predicts under screen or modem load, the phone cuts out before the gauge reaches zero. Run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption, and the coulomb counter will re-anchor to the new cell's actual voltage profile.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the replacement BTY26170 — the phone just trickle charges now.
This is a first-cycle BMS behaviour. The charge IC on the EL400 negotiates charge current after it reads the battery's internal impedance; a new cell has higher impedance than a worn one, so the IC drops to a lower current tier on the first cycle as a precaution. Let the phone complete one full charge at the slower rate. On the second cycle, fast charge should reinitiate normally — if it does not, check that the USB cable and adapter both support the required current output.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — it reads 60%, then suddenly 80%, then drops to 45%.
Erratic percentage readings on the EL400 after a cell swap point directly to the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against unfamiliar cell data. The coulomb counter is interpolating between stored reference points that no longer match the new cell's chemistry state. Do not rely on the percentage display for the first two charge cycles. After two full discharge-charge cycles, the gauge has enough new reference data to report stable readings — if jumping continues beyond that, check that the battery contacts in the phone are clean and making firm contact.
