Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Emporia EL400 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTY26170)
This is a 3.7V 1500mAh Li-ion cell for the Emporia EL400 and Mobistel EL400 mobile phone. It replaces OEM part BTY26170 directly. If your EL400 shuts down unexpectedly or no longer holds a useful charge, this cell restores the original voltage and capacity spec.
- EL400 and Mobistel EL400 fitment: Both the Emporia-branded and Mobistel-badged EL400 share the same battery footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake — one cell covers both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the EL400 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking state-of-charge without error flags.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before it begins reporting accurate percentages. Skipping this step causes erratic percentage readings for the first few days.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under screen or modem load at a point the IC expects to be mid-charge. The phone interprets the voltage drop as a hard cutoff and shuts down. Run one full discharge cycle without fast charging — let the cell drain to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. After that cycle, the coulomb counter resets against the new cell and the shutdowns stop.
Phone won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If this cell dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell before installation, the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage and the EL400 will show no sign of life. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until the BMS unlocks at a safe threshold. If the phone still does not respond after 30 minutes on charge, try a different cable and confirmed-working charger to rule out the supply before drawing any other conclusion.

Frequently Asked Questions
My EL400 percentage jumps around after I put in the new battery — sometimes it reads 60%, then suddenly drops to 30%. What's going on?
The fuel gauge IC in the EL400 is still using the discharge curve it mapped from the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a different internal impedance, so the IC's state-of-charge estimates are off until it re-learns the curve. Run one full uninterrupted discharge — let the phone die on its own — then charge straight to 100% without unplugging. After that single cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates and the percentage readings stabilise.
The phone feels warm near the battery while it's charging on the new cell. Is that a fault?
A new cell typically has higher internal impedance than a well-worn original. The charge IC pushes current into a cell that resists it more than expected, which generates more heat than you'd see once the cell breaks in. If the warmth is mild and charging completes normally, this is expected behaviour for the first few cycles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or charging stops abnormally early, disconnect it and check that the connector is seated flat — a partial connection raises resistance further and compounds the heat.
Fast charging stopped working on the EL400 after I replaced the battery — it only slow charges now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, some BMS units respond conservatively to the fast charge handshake and fall back to standard charge rates until they've completed one full cycle with the new cell. Charge the phone fully at the slow rate, discharge it normally, then plug into your fast charger again. If fast charging still doesn't engage after that cycle, confirm you're using a charger and cable that passed the fast-charge handshake before the battery swap — the issue may be the supply, not the cell.
